He’s getting ratio’d on every single tweet and deservedly so. A little self awareness would’ve gone a long way in this instance

He discovered swing and miss and it’s glorious. Up until this season he blew. Hopefully it continues.

They didn't. The airline gave their kids complimentary popcorn and then came back with a garbage bag and told the mom to pick up every last piece as soon as they reached cruising altitude and the seatbelt sign came off. I've never heard of an airplane having popcorn available on it either.

 

I saw pictures and it didn't look at that bad. I don't purposely spill popcorn at the movie theatre, but if I do spill some by accident, I don't pick it up - nor would I at the Jays game. I also crack peanut shells and throw them on the ground at the Jays game. My ticket price for a plane ticket, a movie ticket and a Jays ticket includes effort to clean the place up once the event is over. That doesn't mean I fully support people being *******s and making bigger messes on purpose, but that doesn't appear to be what happened here.

 

And those suggesting a 2 year old should pick up after themselves must not have kids. That's really stupid.

 

Raised four kids and first thing they ever learned was to pick up after themselves and clean up their messes. Also they all have had the pleasure of working service-industry jobs and they have learned the hard-way that its important to be considerate to people who are getting paid lousy wages to do s*** work.

 

Keep throwing your peanut shells on the ground so others can clean up after you - you filthy animal!

Father of 3 here. Not to pretend I'm some perfect parent but from my experience I'd be sitting next to my 2yr old with the popcorn or any food for that matter. Maybe that's just me but I know what the result would be from all 3 of my kids at that age on a plane. Also, you guys ever try sucking up popcorn with a vacuum? Dyson even spits them out.

A movie theater or ballgame is simply not the same context. Different environment, different burdens on the staff who need to clean up, etc.

Is everyone forgetting the wife is 22 weeks pregnant... That is the KEY point here. Two year olds spill things, no matter how well they are raised or if you are sitting beside them. I just flew with my two year old and it was NOT easy...

 

Good luck trying to get a 2 yr old to clean up if they are not in the mood. The clean up song works like one out of every eight times... The flight appeared to be a commuter airline and part of the United network.. The main line flights have cleaning crews, the smaller feeder airlines/planes might not.

 

I suspect the FA had to clean up the plane and didn't want to deal with it. The thing is, the FA has to use common sense when seeing there is a prego and small kids..

Didn't he have a 60% ground ball rate and a really low homerun rate before this year?

 

I know k-rates have gone up over the decades, but there was a time when it was accepted that hard throwing sinker-ballers could be good without a high k-rate. Halladay (pre 2008, when his k-rates went up for some reason), Brandon Webb, Aaron Sanchez (until he got injured), Chien Ming Wang like pulled off 600 good innings with like 4 ks per 9 or something. I recall all these guys being very hard throwers, low in the strike zone.

 

Those guys were starters, accept for Sanchez's 80 innings as a reliever, which were good. Have there been any good relievers last few years, pull off a multi year run, with 80 innings pitched, 60 ks and only 2 or 3 homers given up?

The part where they asked the pregnant wife to clean it up maybe was a little out of bounds, but the right move would have been for Anthony to try to get his kids to clean up after themselves. If not successful tell your wife to stay seated and clean up the f***ing popcorn yourself.

 

Just cause there are cleaning crews who get paid s*** for a s***** job doesn't mean that gives anyone the green light to just make a mess wherever they please. Just cause some of you on here like to throw your garbage on the movie theatre floor or the ballpark ground doesn't make it right either.

 

The worst part about it all is just the severe lack of self awareness of Anthony, taking to twitter with done deaf tweet thinking social media is going to come to his rescue then doubling down and potentially getting an airline employee in trouble, who by the way also probably gets paid s*** for a s***** job.

If I lived there I would do it, depending if I could have guests. It works out to $124 per home game or so... Cheaper than going to an individual game in the stands.

This definitely changes my perspective on it.

 

The wife is pregnant and the kids are the age of 2. I have kids and they were raised right, and, even still, getting them to clean up after themselves at that age is a tall task even with good parenting. Bass' family is also on a flight probably for hours and the kids are probably fussy and everyone is buckled in. You can't drug your kid to sleep, so sometimes, s*** happens.

 

Honestly, knowing that Bass wasn't on the flight does make me empathize with him. If he was, I would have blamed him for not picking it up. But knowing he wasn't, this is different.

I do not expect anyone, let alone young kids or pregnant women, to clean up any spilled food in restaurants, planes, movie theaters, war zones, and so on. I do expect them to be careful and not make a mess intentionally.
