Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I could see these bars and sections also boosting season ticket hold interest or increasing the appeal of seeing a ton of games. It'll allow fans a change compared to their normal seat experience. I think they’ll definitely be selling more of the crappy 500s seats. Like the sides rows 15+ will be cheap and people will just go to the fun areas
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Idk man the crowds both days seemed extremely casual. Like show up after first pitch casual. Compared to the Seattle fans that were hanging around the stadium well before game time. Game 1 defs had nothing to cheer about. Game 2 had lots to cheer for until the 5th inning came around I can only speak for myself but I was at game 2 and I sat in stunned silence for most of the game then I cried on the Go Train in front of my father in law and peed my pants a bit

Up 8-1 at one point IIRC. Damn you are a hardcore fan.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 That is true. However I do specifically remember the crazy cheering from the Seattle portion of the crowd behind 3B when they scored the go-ahead run in that final game. There were probably more hardcore Seattle fans than hardcore Jays fans at those 2 playoff games. That is a bit embarrassing given the fact we’re in a different f***ing country 5+ hours flight away. Also the fact tickets were going for like 30$ each just an hour before first pitch. Easy to hear 50 hard core Seattle fans when 40,000 casual + hardcore Jays fans were in f***ing shock.

It was great.

When I was in Houston back in 2017, it was a bobblehead night so bought the cheapest ticket on StubHub and just chilled at the Torchy's Taco Bar in CF.

Get people into the stadium, make it the place to be during the summer, give them options once they’re there.

Neither my dad nor I spoke the entire time after the game on the Go Train. Maybe after the first 15 minutes on the ride back my dad turned to me and said, "Can you believe that s***?" I think I was in denial. Over the coming days anger took over and like any true diehard fan I sent John Schneider several death threats to his email address. That seemed to help me let off some steam a lot. But while we were on the train there was a couple sitting next to us and the girl would not quit talking about the game, which players will be back, whether they should get season tickets or not, etc. In retrospect I admire her spirit but her boyfriend just sat there slack jawed and in silence the entire time. Kind of funny looking back on it.

I guess? haha I mean, if they win it all during my life then it becomes jokes. Almost a romantically sad but funny memory. If they never win the WS it will be just a plain sad/bitter memory to haunt me on my deathbed. As I die on a ventilator from Covid28.

(Wish we'd gone to game 5 instead LOL) 2022 game 2 must have been much worse for many reasons Yeah like Laika said in some sort of bizzarely boastful way I can say I was there. Anytime we play the Mariners that game is being brought up and the highlights will be shown. It's basically the pinnacle moment in the garbage Mariners' franchise history. I can say I was there and everyone can laugh at me. If we win another World Series that will definitely take the sting off but it almost needs to be won with this core group. Or at least with a key player from 2022 like Vlad leading the charge. It's been pretty disappointing that in the past two years we've got nothing to show with a team this talented. Hopefully 2023 makes up for it in a big way.

Like i said it was a fun game until the 5th. Even if they win they still need to win a game 3 to advance. Worst collapse/choke of all time? Sure probably. From a non-biased perspective, as a general fan of baseball it was actually a great game. I guess it also helps that I like the Mariners too. But I also enjoyed Yordan’s absolute missile walkoff against Ray.

How would it feel to be the Yankees, up 3 games to none, with the lead in the 9th, and Mariano on the mound and you lose the series, making it the first time in MLB history a team comes back from 3-0 down. Way worse than just 1 game. Also, lets not forget game 4 of the '93 series. Jays came back on Philly, in Philly, when they were down 14-9 in the 8th and put up a 6 spot to take the win 15-14 and go up 3-1 in that series. What's worse, choking a 7 run lead at home in the 5th in a wildcard series or a 5 run lead at home in the 8th in the World Series???

Yeah you’re right, definitely the WS game you mentioned is worse in terms of circumstances. Or the epic collapse of 87

It's pretty clearly the worst jays game of all time from a jays perspective is it not?

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 No I don’t think so Please enlighten me on which game was worse than losing a playoff elimination game after having an 8-1 lead in the 6th lol

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 Rogers is a bit behind the times adding all these new areas in which to consume alcohol. They could have made an enclosed area just beyond the CF wall and called it section 420.

Surprisingly there’s 0 smoking areas at the dome. Even the outdoor patio area is smoke-free.
