This is so good for baseball for the Dodgers to potentially add Ohtani, Glasnow and Yamamoto in one offseason.

If they get Yama, the rotation shapes up as:

Glasnow

Yamamoto

Buehler

Miller

Sheehan

I dunno about Kershaw.

Kershaw just said he feels great and will be back at midseason

The Royals cannot stop making moves.

Exactly the same terms that the poverty Padres declined

Posted

So they've signed

Renfroe

Lugo

Wacha

Will Smith the RP

Garret Hampson

Chris Stratton

And they've traded for

Nick Anderson

Kyle Wright

That's in addition to their deadline moves last year like Ragans. They also got Vinnie P back from injury. They've completely remade the team. Still going to suck but they should at least be watchable (aka contenders in the AL Central).

I kind of like what the Royals have cooking honestly. Ragans is a stud, and now has 3-4 solid guys behind him in the rotation. Witt, Perez, Pasquantino are all really fun. Some upside with Melendez, Garcia, and Isbel.

What the FO says to the public and what they actually believe to be true can be 2 very different things. This is why media talk is f***ing useless.

Yeah, that’s why it’s good to look at any facts you have. Like they won 100+ games, didn’t lose anyone notable, and decided they’d commit $1b+ in payroll over the off-season. They ain’t happy with the early bounce

Max Scherzer Undergoes Back Surgery

By Steve Adams | December 15, 2023 at 11:03am CDT

The Rangers announced Friday that right-hander Max Scherzer underwent surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back. General manager Chris Young tells reporters that the team and Scherzer tried “multiple conservative treatments in pain management” before resorting to surgery (link via Kennedi Landry of MLB.com). Unfortunately, the last-resort option was apparently deemed necessary, and the operation will sideline Scherzer into June or even July.'

it was pretty obvious that Scherzer was f***ed

stubborn old mule probably resisted the knife and cost himself half of 2024 as a result

He'll apparently be back just in time for his 40th birthday. I have my doubts.

Hard the blame the guy. He’s going to be 40, not 25. Any post-season could be his last.

Yeah I don't blame him for gritting it out through the playoffs.

I guess he could have had the surgery right after the world series though.

Nobody said they were, or should be happy with it. Nobody said that trying to built and improve your team is a bad thing. It's simply a reality that the playoffs are a crapshoot. The better your team, the more likely you'll have success, but the odds of winning a 5 or 7 game series are still a lot closer to 50% than the top teams would prefer.

If it was Dodgers v. Philly last year, what are the odds that the Dodgers win? is it 55-60%? What were the odds that the Dbacks beat the Phillies? 40%? Maybe the separation is a bit more, but it's not like the top teams have a 90% chance of winning most 5 or 7 games series and 84 win team that limped into the playoffs only has a 10% chance of winning the series. This isn't the first round of the NBA playoffs.

The Royals smell blood and are going for it. Good for them

I suspect they need to give Bobby Witt Jr a reason to want to continue playing in KC...

The Central is perpetually mid, so any team that builds a half way decent squad has a chance to win it. Good for the Royals for trying. They also only have 4 (?) more years of control on Witt so they can’t waste any years.

Yeah I have nothing but respect for the smaller market teams that actually spend some money and try to put a winning team on the field.

It's not good for baseball though. They really should just have teams in NY or LA or Chicago. That way the best players don't have to go to some insufferable locale....like Toronto for instance.

AL Central is pretty wide open. A couple solid low key moves by the Royals put them right up there. Don't think they will be in the cellar at all. Could definitely be a sleeper team in the AL if they make a couple solid additions this offseason. Worst case scenario, they become some nice trade assets at the deadline.

Yea he called Julio rodriuegez a “fag” after striking him out

Framber and Julio were actually good friends but Julio said he is cutting ties with framber after the mean comments

It was a big deal for one night back in September near end of the season when mariners got knocked out of playoffs by the astros

I don’t mind Dunedin/Clearwater, I’ve been there 5 times and enjoyed it. Tampa airport is one of the best as well. But Scottsdale is in the top 3 of my most favourite US cities. Weather is fantastic with no humidity, great food, golf courses, lots to do. My fav city is San Diego, has everything you could want, however also super expensive.

Yeah downtown LA is s*** but Dodgers don’t even play there so literally would be no reason to go there. It’s like Toronto players aren’t going to go to bad parts of Scarborough.

Yeah I've been meaning to visit Arizona for some time now. Only have heard great things. Never have been. Will look at maybe going down there the Family Day weekend or maybe try to catch a D'Backs game in April.
