Interesting that the Astros seem to be open to shopping Framber Valdez....

Yeah really

Have they got that much good young pitching coming that they can let a guy as good as Valdez go?

He's a legitimate moron

"And in October, Franco posted and then quickly took down a link to a song, Cambio, by Puerto Rican rappers Ozuna and Anuel AA. The lyrics translated from Spanish, referenced “so many friends that I helped, so many girls that I trusted, they were all Judas, you saw it” and also “Everyone is looking for money.”"

I expect Franco stayed in the USA until there were settlements and there was no threat of being arrested. Based on the date of and wording in the article, Franco flew to DR several days ago. Probably, to sign the settlements. The settlements would likely not include any admission of guilt, and the usual NDA.

With there being an amicable settlement between the parties, where this would leave MLB, not sure. I cannot see a long suspension. He'll be back in plenty of time before the dynasty playoffs.

Did I call it or did I call it. Ha! Braves plan to flip Matt Carpenter.

I did listen to the interview. It sounded like standard media talk to me. Dodgers told him they were committed to trying to win a World Series, weren't satisfied with just making the playoffs every year and that they needed him to put them over the top. What an incredible, ground breaking pitch by LA. Just because that was his chosen answer doesn't mean any other team told him anything different.

But maybe they did? Maybe Ross told him they were stoked that they made the playoffs in 3 of the last 4 years and couldn't be happier. He must have told him their philosophy is simply to get into the playoffs and hope for the best - don't really care if they win the World Series. Must have told Ohtani that they just want him to help fill the new corporate boxes and make the team a f***ton of money - that baseball results don't matter. I could totally see him saying that. Fire Atkins for such a s***** pitch and believe everything you hear in an interview at face value.

lol... Gold!

I wonder how the Rays clubhouse feels about playing with a guy with a PED OH suspension?

Wasn't in consensual though? Like its not like he raped her against her will. While still a crime, I would say there have been MLB players in the past that have done a lot worse. Look at Aroldis Chapman.. and he has no trouble getting a job. Even Osuna with the Astros..

Franco is such a talent that Rays players would probably welcome him given he could be the difference between playoffs and no playoffs.

Trevor Bauer had zero criminal charges against him and his alleged “crime” wasn’t statutory.

MLB now has a precedent.. They screwed up and were unjust. Now they have to apply discipline equally.

Starting to think Bauer is never coming back. If it happens, it's probably going to be this offseason, but there' been radio silence on his market.

Guy like him probably signs toward the end of the offseason. You’d think the Rangers would be interested.

Trevor Bauer was an ******* long before those charges and has a long history of being abrasive, being a s***** teammate, and being a headache with his stupid political opinions. Most teams just don’t want anything to do with a guy like that, much like Puig. The Bauer apologists love to pretend he was canceled just because of one girl’s subsequently dropped accusations, and that’s simply not true.

What a hilarious post. Dude was a sought after free agent, including the Jays who were again a finalist here, before this BS story went against him.

It is clearly just this story that has kept teams away from him. All the other stuff were things teams had no issue to overlook if he kept performing on the field.

The two cases could not be more different. For one, Bauer admitted to the activity, which apparently violates MLB's code of conduct, and this was confirmed by an independent arbitrator. For Franco, there are non-incriminating pictures and allegations. He has made no admissions.

Since Bauer admitted to the activity, criminality hinged on the question of consent. In the Franco case, there is a question as to whether the alleged activity occurred at all. Unless MLB has some evidence, it is difficult to see how a lengthy suspension is justified. They may be able to justify a suspension, and manage their liability risk, by using the fact of settlements (which will be confidential) as evidence of something inappropriate. The duration of the suspension is anyone's guess.

It has been suggested that Franco started the relationships when he was a minor, which if true, would certainly complicate things.

I'm so confident in the eventual outcome that yesterday I made an offer of Bichette for Franco+.

Yea, this argument holds no water as all the “points” you list, except for the battery, were in existence and well known before the Dodgers and Mets and others went all in during his FA period.

Not at all accurate Jim. Bauer admitted to “rough” consensual sex, NOT to beating the accuser as the photos that first surfaced indicated. The accuser’s bedside morning after video debunked all that.

Show me where there is admission by Bauer of conduct violating the MLB code of conduct???

The above link refers to a phone call taped by police where there is apparently an admission of activity contrary to MLB policy. I expect the entire call, and all other information, was available to the independent arbitrator.

I don't think the latest allegations, from this past June, have been posted. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2023/06/13/trevor-bauer-new-sexual-assault-allegation-arizona/70319689007/

Bauer now has a history of allegations by 4 separate women, all of which are of a similar vein: violence against women. Not hard to see why he might never pitch in MLB again. Because (1) it is likely that other women will come forward, and (2) Bauer is likely to continue the behaviour.

Oh ya? Which teammates said he was s*****?

Your political opinions are everyone uses the same bathroom and that paying the government more money will stop climate change. You don’t get to call anyone else’s opinions stupid

Franco has never been suspended. It was a voluntary leave.

The accusation that Franco is a pedo is suspect. There have been reports that Franco was a minor when the relationships started, and the relationships continued after he became an adult and they were still minors. The age separation is apparently 3-4 years. Such cases are generally not reported, nor pursued. I expect nothing would have happened, if Franco was not a highly paid MLB player.

I don't see this as a pedophile case. Franco is not 30 years old and preying on minors.

Aren’t there multiple, underage girls? Sounds a little sus Jim

3 have made allegations. The details of when each relationship started, and even if there was one, and how old Franco was when it started, are unknown to us. But again, when the age difference is 3-4 years usually nothing happens, DR, Canada, or USA.

If Franco was 21 and started a sexual relationship with a 14 yr old, that's a whole different matter.

Jim's on his knees, owns him in 3 leagues. He and connor are cut from the same cloth, apparently Bauer's the biggest piece of s*** on the planet, but Franco gets a pass, weird fella.
