Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Not compared to prior versions of Cody Bellinger actually has the highest CF% of his career and the lowest Pull% since his rookie season (per the FG batted ball s***. statcast looks a bit different) Vladimir Guerrero JR (Sunday against Arizona) AB 1 109 mph ground ball to short (double play) AB 2 98 mph fly ball to center fielder (389 feet) out - sac fly AB 3 104 mph ground ball up the middle (out to 2b standing on second) AB 4 110 mph 22 degrees 410 feet (.02 inches from homer) double essentially 1/4 some other day - like basically the same except 110 mph 19 degree liner to right center (single) (against Atlanta) I'm probably exagerating a bit, like he may not have hit into a double play Sunday, but not embellishing by much at all Cito Gaston - pull dat ball John Olerud - I won a batting title Vladimir Guerrero - I won a homerun title Cito Gaston - Did you do it twice? Pull dat ball.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Cody Bellinger is having a f***ing great bounce back year. That's good for baseball. Cubs should get a haul for him. Where's Terminator at?
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 I actually think Cody Bellinger having a good year is bad for baseball. The game needs to move on from has-beens like him more quickly. Just better for fan psyche and promotions and whatnot.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Hoping the Yankees trade for him.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Hoping the Yankees trade for him. Me too. That right field porch.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Me too. That right field porch. It'll be perfect. Bellinger desperately pulling his soft looping flyballs just short of the porch while the team finishes .500 and Boone gets canned.

I don't think Boone is a good manager at all but this year's failure is clearly more on Cashman. How much more leeway does he have with the Yankees front office?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2023 Author Posted July 18, 2023 Skenes signed by Pittsburgh for 9.2 million draft bonus. Slot for #1 was 9.72 million Also more than any current Pirate is making this season.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2023 Author Posted July 18, 2023 Josh Donaldson with a possible season ending calf strain. "New York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson may miss the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with a possible Grade 3 strain to his right calf, according to what he told reporters on Monday. Donaldson suffered the injury on Saturday while running out a ground ball."

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 CES can be a beast if he keeps the swing and miss in check How about that Francisco Alvarez guy? 19 HR in 219 AB as a rookie

MikeM3 Verified Member Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Sad to see these upstart teams like the Dbacks and Reds roll out slop in their rotation like Davies and Weaver. Too scared to make even a tiny move. Gasp it might be too soon to try to win now..
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 The 2023 Reds might be the 2022 Orioles. Position player core looking good with more on the way (Marte). Both them and the Pirates could take a leap next season.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 And the Reds completely whiffed on Senzel... Senzel is like Biggio, they only had HR power with the older juiced ball.

AJ suggesting Buehrle was drunk when he came in for the save during the 2005 world series. I can see them having a few cold ones during regular season games, but it seems doubtful you'd have to drink to stay entertained during a WS game. I could be wrong.

Yeah, they have to know if they'd be used or not in a WS game, funny, nonetheless.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Dustin May’s flexor tendon surgery Wednesday included a revision to the Tommy John procedure he underwent in 2021. That means he’s expected to miss a full 12 months. The flexor tendon surgery alone probably would have cost him the start of next year, but not the entire first half. Hopefully, this will get May right once and for all. The soon-to-be 26-year-old debuted in the majors in 2019, but he’s pitched just 191 2/3 innings in five seasons for the Dodgers. Omar Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 What was Harper's strategy here? Vlad swings at all of those except one.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 Apparently Harper was very sick and thus not swinging. I read that in the comments - don't know the context as to why he was at the plate.
