your not walking the talk

Mariners Win AL West Title if

1) Mariners Sweep the Rangers: 89-73

2) The Astros win one and lose one: 89-73

and Rangers out if:

3) Blue Jays win 1 or more games. 90-72

=If 3 way tie for 1st in West, the Rangers have the season series lead against the Mariners vs the Mariners have the lead against the Astros vs the Astros have the lead against the Rangers. So that tie breaker comes down to best combined win percentage total against those two other teams and Rangers would have lowest win % of all 3.

Mariners vs Astros: 9-4

Mariners vs. Rangers: 5-8

MARINERS 14-12

Astros vs Mariners: 4-9

Astros vs. Rangers: 9-4

ASTROS: 13-13

Rangers vs Astros: 4-9

Rangers vs Mariners: 8-5

RANGERS: 12-14

Wow! This is a good post

that's depressing, did we get the same control over varsho

No. Varsho is a free agent in 2027 so two less years

Signing Charlie Blackmon to a 1/13M extension in September is the most Rockies move ever

They are one of the worst franchises in all of sports. I wonder if it’s even possible to build a winner there with such extremes in that park. Seems tough.

there is dozens of these all over reddit, for us and the AL west teams, you really need to verify the numbers because people get a little too excited and the numbers can be a bit much with all the weird 3 way tiebreakers

Not gonna lie I’d rather just watch the next two days and see what unfolds than crunch the #’s lol

hashtag cinch to clinch. The numbers are kind of cool because the results for potential 3 way tie breaker is ridiculous and seems unfair. If that happens one team is going to be very upset. If it's a 3 way tie, rangers are out and mariners win. But Texas and mariners tie, mariners are out.

I’d be very upset too but at the same time the cream rises to the top after 162. It’s not going to change unless they get rid of divisions

I just checked my phone. The Jays won 11-4. Orioles clinch. Royals beat the Yankees 12-5. Twins beat the Rockies 7-6. The Reds beat the Cardinals 19-2. Mariners beat the Rangers 8-0. The Nationals beat the Braves 10-6. Let me know when baseball makes sense plz.

The game of baseball with it's 162 game schedule is specifically designed to make a rational person experience completely irrational highs and lows somewhat like a drug user. A typical fan that succumbs to this affect will experience euphoria, existential dread and self-loathing, often during a 3 or 4 game series vs any AL East opponent. The affects of this psychosis is often seen in multiple negative posts on random message boards and irrational calls for the termination of contracts of said baseball clubs management.

At least that's how it is for me anyhoo...

f*** off with your AI ********. Here's how it goes... The Jays win tomorrow. They get in the playoffs. I said Jays twice. I'm getting ahead of myself. It's already tomorrow my time compared to you. I'm sorry English not good. Banana.

Ah yes. Banana to you as well my good friend. Hoping many virulent bananas for the mighty Jays on their hopeful thrusts towards the wild-card promised lands.

Remember all the whining about "wasting ABs" on guys like this last year and here the Rays are employing him in the middle of the playoff chase.

I specifically recall that you were the president of the Raimel Tapia fan club last season so you must be heartbroken to see him on the roster of the enemy.

Yeah but he's going to finish the season with less than ten ab's for the Rays whereas we gave him over 400. Yuck.

Good news is the jays will draw 3 million. Will the 3 millionth fan be allowed to fire Shapiro? I think if the Seattle is leading by 6-1 or something they should invite the fans to stay and announce the 3 millionth fan will fire Shapiro after Jays get eliminated. Then Paul Beeston will be named interim president and give a speech called "Where to from here?".

Beeston's speech should be similar to Wilner's press release after Seattle clinch. Talk about 1987, 1990, how we've been here before, the best is yet to come. Don't lose faith. See you in March.

It won't happen but it would be fantastic to see the 3 millionth fan fire Shapiro. Or maybe homeplate lady can fire him, then Beeston will give her back her seats. Then in Beeston's speech he can mention what Pat Gilick and AA did and promise a bright future based on those men's principles.

Screening test the Yankees use for entry level applicants. Actually seems pretty well-designed. Many BJMB posters would ace it.

That's a bad take. Most/every question is well-designed to determine whether the applicant understands a principle the team thinks is important. And it's hard to take issue with what they seem to value.

There's some really good questions in there, especially about pitching.

WHo would you rather have on your team... a) pitcher who always throws 4.2 IP and always gives up 0 runs B) pitcher who always throws 6 IP and always gives up 2 runs.

Given no other information, which of the following hitters would you prefer to have on your team?

Hitter A: .300/.450/.600

Hitter B: .000/1.000/.000

Definitely pitcher A in this day and age. The hitter question is really interesting. Are we assuming both are average baserunners?

I would probably pick hitter A because its more familiar to me?? Hitter B is interesting though, if you had an entire lineup of hitter B then you win every game right?

Realistically hitter B is probably more valuable because he never makes an out, but how much would he actually score if the rest of the lineup stinks?

So I guess if the lineup stinks you would want hitter A, but any solid offense would want hitter B.

Maybe im over thinking this and B is the clear answer

Why the f*** did the Mariners have to f*** everything up and win 2 straight. Just lose. Nobody wants you in the playoffs.

Now the chances of getting Minnesota is so much bleaker. Jays would have to lose both the next 2 games, Mariners would have to lose 1 of 2, and Astros need to win 2 to make this scenario happen.

I think they want the answer to be hitter B). They're looking for someone to understand that OBP is more valuable than SLG, and someone with a 1.000 OBP would be the most valuable hitter in history, even if it came 100% from BBs.

I don't think there's enough information to make a properly informed choice. It's next to impossible for hitter B to actually exist, and to run this type of split would require an extremely small sample size of plate appearances.

The way the question is worded, I think they want you to state what hypothetical slash line would be better. It's an 'OBP > SLG' question.

Does the answer change if hitter A is a good runner and hitter B is Alejandro Kirk?

Is it possible to estimate the wRC+ of the 2 players?

You don’t get to add context to the question. That’s the point. It says it

You're forbidding me from discussing a variation of the question on this forum?

The answer is the OBP guy with average speed in an average lineup. There's not much more to discuss on that end.

Well, the first time you asked a question of a question that was an absolute choice. When you frame it the second way, it’s different. Carry on
