Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Minnesota is pretty hot right now. Are we even sure they're a better option than Tampa?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Minnesota is pretty hot right now. Are we even sure they're a better option than Tampa? No. Idk who is better really. All I know is it would feel a lot better to lose to Minny vs losing to Tampa
DonJays Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 so this means we have to suffer all of 2024 with Guillermo Martinez? Would rather the mariners win. I love when jays fans complain about the hitting coach. Makes it easy to quickly identify the morons
BatFlip Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 I’d still like him back next year on a short term deal. 1 year pillow deal? 3 years with an opt-out? Signing Teo could make sense if the dollars are right and it allows room to acquire a second bat as well. You can count on him for 2-3 WAR, much needed power, and bone-headed plays in the field and on the bases.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Author Posted October 1, 2023 All playoff teams are finalized, just some seedings to get taken care of tomorrow. Gratz to the Braves, Dodgers, Brewers, Phillies, Diamondbacks, Marlins, Rays, Rangers, Twins, Jays and Astros.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Author Posted October 1, 2023 Minnesota is pretty hot right now. Are we even sure they're a better option than Tampa? Straight up Tampa is a better team, I’d rather play Minnesota. Doesn’t mean they couldn’t beat the Jays, anything could happen but they’re definitely not as good as Tampa.

Yeah the Twins could definitely beat the Jays in a 3 game series, but they are the far better matchup.
DonJays Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 f*** off I will not you weird kitten freak.

As well playing and beating Minnesota means the Jays would meet the Rangers in the ALDS instead of the Orioles?
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 O's closer Felix Bautista to get Tommy John surgery. Very bad luck for them but they have been cruising so far without him.

I think that is going to catch up the Orioles eventually given how much of their success hinges on having a shutdown bullpen.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 I think that is going to catch up the Orioles eventually given how much of their success hinges on having a shutdown bullpen. Both Grayson and Bradish have been nails. 2.20 ERAs over their last 12 starts. The other guys similar to Jays middle. Offense is like Jays but a little better. I don’t know what you speak of

We have all been saying that all year and they have 101 Wins lol. So far they have held their own with the rotation and pen even sans Bautista. When he went down most predicted they would suffer from not being able to shorten games. We are about to find out if it continues, or not. Thats what I love about the playoffs. All the chatter gets eclipsed by the end game.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 RIP Tim Wakefield. f*** cancer. Wow that’s crazy a fast turnaround since Schilling broke the news

Congrats to the Marlins, Brewers and Twinkies I guess.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Not really. One would assume he got the call that Wakefield was going to die at any time. It probably wasn’t specified keep it quiet. He said pray for the guy

Like I said earlier in the thread I get that Schilling probably had good intentions. Doesn’t mean what he did was okay
Pinkfloid Verified Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Astros up 8-0. Who would we rather face if we make it to the DS? Houston or Texas? Moot point now, Seattle wins 1-0. Bring on Minnie and Houston!

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Texas v TB. Going to be full Texan this week bc f*** Hurl, Laila, and BTS (Tampa loving Trifecta)

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 We played way better vs Houston this year so probably them Regular season doesn't matter. I would rather face Texas in the DS over Houston. Astros have a way better rotation, bullpen and are an experience group. On paper, I still think the Astros probably are the best overall team in the AL entering the Postseason.

Yeah, in a vacuum I’d rather face Texas. But then where would all the conversation be around gut feelings, momentum and the unquantifiable be?
