BTS Community Moderator Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Apparently its new news for the Padres that Manny Machado has an attitude problem. I feel like we all knew that already
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Apparently its new news for the Padres that Manny Machado has an attitude problem. Trade for him this offseason. 3B problem solved!
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Teo this season as a .300+ BA with runners in scoring position If you think about all the clutchest moments from the last couple years, Teo was responsible for like 90% of them. The comeback against the Rangers on opening day, the homer against the Yankees at home, that playoff performance vs Seattle, several other walkoff hits, etc
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Apparently its new news for the Padres that Manny Machado has an attitude problem. You mean the yappy prick who threw a bat at someone on the field and somehow didn't get in trouble?
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 I have read the articles and can't find any actual quotes directly pointing towards Manny, but there's posts on dodgers reddit saying they are vindicated for letting him walk and the same implication on the padres reddit in another lengthy thread. Im sure its not as bad as his younger days but just turns out he is now lazy and doesn't want to show a good example for the younger players. Probably just frustrated fans Machado is just getting old. But his offensive approach has always been a bit inconsistent cuz he doesn't walk a whole lot
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Machado has a problem with his elbow and has been getting additional games off.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Dodgers beat the Mariners the arms in that Dodger pen, so many options for Roberts, Shelby Miller, Ryan Yarbrough and then Gavin Stone with a rare 3 inning save yes Shelby Miller and Ryan Yarbrough
Masterbather Verified Member Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Pretty crazy that out of 12 favourable outcomes this weekend, 11 of them worked out for us, including a game in which the Dodgers basically tried handing it away. Offense is still a problem, it may be as cold as it's been all season. Shouldn't take a lot to beat the Yankees but their pitching is going to make it tough to score with this offense. Seattle is, as I figured they would be before September began, still the most vulnerable team in my opinion. I think Astros and Rangers are too good to fail ultimately.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 33 year old Heyward, is having a career year. Didn't even have a job after 2022 .865 Career best OPS! Dodgers fixed him

Outscored 40-17 or something on the week. 4 game sweep by Texas, yet end the week roughly the same GB behind the three Wild Card competitors. Gain .5 games on Seattle Lose 1 game to Texas Gain .5 games on Houston

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 ATL gets shellacked today. Stuck on 96 W. Blows my mind they win the WS in 2021. They loose cornerstones Swanson and Freeman, but keep on rolling as an elite team.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Juan Soto is in his age 24 season. Wowsers.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Juan Soto is in his age 24 season. Wowsers. Soto has a 150 wRC+ and is going to put up a 5-win season, but it's still kind of felt like a disappointing year for some reason. I guess the slow start and general Padres stink.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 33 year old Heyward, is having a career year. Didn't even have a job after 2022 .865 Career best OPS! Dodgers fixed him They've done what now seems like an obvious move in retrospect, and completely shielded him from facing LHP. Career 116 wRC+ vs RHP but 78 against LHP. As a result this is his best offensive season since his 20 year old rookie year, granted, there's a fair bit of smoke and mirrors here as the underlying Statcast batted ball numbers aren't very good. Still an excellent fielder though and he's a neutral baserunner, so a very valuable platoon bat who faces the majority of pitchers.
