connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 D'backs were my pick to win the NL West. I mean it's still early though they've done a great job thus far, considering some of their young pitchers have been meh. Quote it on here or it didn’t happen:)
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 To connorp rankings? Come on, #8 and #9?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Arizona taking 3 of 4 of the Dodgers. D'Back's will be a fun team to watch. A little short on starting pitching IMO though. But love them as sleepers in the NL. Ok didn't say they would take the division specifically unless I could find another post, but they were my sleeper pick in the NL this season, implying they could surprise to win the division or be a top WC contender.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Red Sox placed LHP Chris Sale on the 15-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation. Advice: The 34-year-old southpaw was pulled from Thursday's start against the Reds after 3 2/3 innings due to a shoulder issue and was sent for an MRI that evening -- the results of which are not yet known. Sale told reporters on Friday that he doesn't believe that he will require surgery, but that they won't have a full diagnosis for another week or so. It sure sounds like he's going to be sidelined for a while. More: Chris Cotillo (NBCSportsEDGE.com)

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 There were reports yesterday suggesting Bartolo Colon was officially retiring but his agency squashed the rumor this afternoon https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/06/bartolo-colon-to-officially-retire.html
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 lmao... fun fact, all runs scored in this game were scored on wild pitches.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 So it looks like Strasberg takes the cake as the worst contract in baseball history? Worse than Chris Davis even for sure
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 So it looks like Strasberg takes the cake as the worst contract in baseball history? Worse than Chris Davis even for sure Chris Davis just sucked afterwards. I feel sorry for Stras and the Nats though. Injuries did him in. He helped them to a World Series in 2019 and decided to sign a long term extension to stay in Washington. But yeah 7 years/$245M for only 8 starts and 0 combined WAR - definitely has to be one of the worst contracts handed out. Risky to hand that type of money to an arm who is entering his 30s and an arm with some injury history. If he stayed healthy and continued to provide some 4-5 WAR seasons, wouldn't be having this discussion.

BTS Community Moderator Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 Watching the Cards game. Albert Pujols was a much better player than he is colour commentator.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 Why is there always one game on Sunday that starts at 11am? On Peacock right? Yeah, Peacock exclusive.

BTS Community Moderator Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 I'm so sick of the Bodog commercial that airs 124834 a game on MLB.tv 'When it feels like all that's left is work hard, it's time to play again"

Thing was, it wasn’t even the injury that was the problem, bu the surgery to fit that caused nerve damage.

Never knew. I'm rooting for Stras to get back on the mound. Seems impossible but would love to see him pitch again at some point.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 Should we take a flyer on Plesac who was just DFAd… Send Manoah down to work on things, like was done with Halladay all those years ago. Run with Plesac in the interim.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2023 Author Posted June 4, 2023 No harm in taking a flyer on Plesac, he still throws strikes at least.
