Thought this deserved a new thread! What do you all think should be our 26 man roster for the WC round and starting lineup should be for game 1?

Cut an arm and add Biggio for sure

Kikuchi is not there for me. Him or Pop get snipped.

I think we will see Gurriel play today

If he's healthy, cut JBJ off the roster, add Biggio (can play 1B, 2B, OF, 3B)

Cut Kikuchi, add Zimmer (defense and baserunning)

I just can't see them ever using Kikuchi in a WC series.

Maybe in the longer series he could be used

You take Biggio over Espinal every time if it is a choice. He's better healthier, and more versatile.

In a 3 game series, you also take 6 bench players. There is virtually no scenario where we need more than 8 relievers, but a guy like Zimmer could be really useful.

Yeah if Kikuchi makes 60-70 pitches today, he likely would be unavailable until Game 3 of the Wild Card series anyways and would the Jays really want to use him in a Game 3?

If he pitches well today, definitely can give him a look for the ALDS as an extra lefty out of the pen who can also pitch multiple innings if need be.

Yeah no need to have both Zimmer and JBJ on the roster. Would keep Zimmer for his defense and baserunning abilities over JBJ. Biggio for his LH bat and his position eligibility will be valuable in a short series.

No Gurriel and Espinal in the lineup today. They will likely be a scratch for the Seattle series.

That's fair. I don't trust him. His stuff is really good and as a BP arm, he's been electric overall.

He does seem like the type to wilt in the moment, but it's like the ultimate stats vs intangibles argument.

Assuming no Gurriel and Espinal:

Springer

Bo

Vlad

Teo

Kirk

Jansen

Chapman

Tapia

Merrifield

Moreno

Biggio

Bradley Jr

Zimmer

Lopez? (Is he the only bench option left?)

Manoah

Gausman

Stripling

Romano

Garcia

Mayza

Bass

Pop

Cimber

Phelps

Berrios

Kikuchi (might actually be more useful than Richards and neither will throw meaningful pitches anyway)

If Gurriel and Espinal are available, obviously Lopez is off and Zimmer is my other cut.

Hmmm, I guess Zimmer, JBJ & Kikuchi likely make the roster.

Let’s see how the Gurriel/Espinal situation unfolds.

I would drop Kikuchi like a bad habit for this short series. No way he sees action if it’s up to me. Why waste a spot on him.

Thank god we're not playing at 12... I can make the 4pm game in peace :)

Yeah MLB didn't want the games to air in Seattle before noon so that's why the Jays got the 4PM timeslot on Friday and Saturday. Otherwise, if they facing the Rays, would have been 12:07 start times haha.

Agree 100%. There's no scenario where Kikuchi should pitch in the WC series

He should be special advisor on Seattle's pitching and hitting only

Interesting that the Jays/M's would get the ABC game on Sunday (if that game happens). Other than that, not surprised at the timeslots there. The Jays benefit from playing the M's by getting a later time slots on Friday/Saturday.

Seattle has lost Winker for the season. That hurts them, especially after losing Haggerty.
