You don’t think they’d go back to the dugout if there was a shot of Charlie talking to vlad after something happened?

No I don’t

Players are wrong all the time when they think they got the out or were safe - of course. Natural reaction.

Have you ever seen a player tell their team not to challenge and then be wrong? I haven’t.

Yeah I don't think I've ever seen a player say not to challenge at all. But I would not be able to remember.

Haven't seen that name in years. Is he still completely insufferable? That screen shot tells me he probably is.

If you want an aggregation of most of the interesting blue jays news, especially if you don’t see the games, his newsletter is quite good.

To be fair - that's because it rarely, if ever happens.

The reality is the accuracy of a player knowing the call was right or wrong is not great. I'm sure that if Vlad was wrong and he did graze 1st base that people would still s*** on Charlie if he chose to listen to Vlad instead of trusting the people in the booth with the highly zoomed camera angles.

Everyone rips a Managers call when it doesn't work out, but very few even acknowledge all the good decisions they make during a game. That's life.

Replay room probably gives the manager a YES, NO, or maybe/50/50 call. There’s no way the replay room told him it was a definite YES. They likely said “maybe”. Then its up to the manager to decide. If the player is adamantly saying NO, you go with what he’s saying.

Thank f***

Seems like a nice guy

Awful manager

I still can't believe he broke Giles a few years ago.

Team is garbage, way out of the race

Probably looking to sell a guy like Giles to a contender

Moron uses him in 3 straight games less than month from the deadline

Breaks him

What a dunce

Charlie seems like a good guy. He served his purpose and I’m not going to celebrate someone losing their job, but this is the right call. Something had to give and the Jays need someone else to lead this team.

Agreed... shocked it happened.

Montoyo is only a player's manager if you're a player who doesn't give a f***. A real player's manager is a guy like Gibby who punches you in the face, tells you to be better or you'll get traded and saves your career because he hits you with reality.

Yep. None of us are in that clubhouse, bit the body language in the dugout and comments he gives in interviews definitely gives off the impression that he doesn't give much weight to the word "stakes".

How sure are you that the video both says "maybe"? Not sure I've ever heard that before. They are going to let the Manager, who can't see videos of the play go off what his naked eye saw in real time or what his gut tells him? That seems stupid.

Charlie said the video booth said challenge it and he said he motioned to challenge it before he saw Vlad motioning not to. I guess all of that could be a lie. Maybe Charlie is a notorious lier and the FO just finally saw through all his lies.

We’ll hear these stories as examples of him being too much of a hardass/or not enough of one when he ‘loses the clubhouse’.

Maybe, but Vladdy & Bo loved him, and he did that stuff to them.

Was in Seattle for their 4 game stint right behind Jays dugout …. Morale and body language seemed to get worse every game. Putting in Romo in extra innings with a guy on second (2 pitch home run) didn’t help . To be honest the team sucked in virtually every aspect . That being said , I don’t think the Vladdy incident was reason he got axed ; otherwise Vladdy could feel pretty bad about it ( I think he’s the kind of guy who would). Montoya had lost control of the team ; Mark Budzinski’s daughters death and general poor play were the perfect storm for the team to go into a slump .I believe after Seattle the writing was on the wall for Montoya .

Yeah, but if we lose, he’ll be fired anyway because he ‘lost the clubhouse’.

I think Schneider will do well this season because we are more talented than our record and we’ll just naturally play better.

Coaching teenagers is a lot different than coaching 35 year old multi millionaires. And this seems like pretty basic stuff. He made a struggling pitcher laugh on the mound? Better extend him now! I did this last week with a 12 year old kid - what a brilliant coaching mind I must have. I'm ready for the job Ross!

I'm not even sure how the starting pitcher gets properly stretched out and prepared if he shows up 30 minutes from first pitch. Could you imagine if a manger told Doc Halladay he had to show up 30 minutes before game time when he was starting? Oddly they never seem to report when the manager makes the pitcher laugh on the mound and he goes onto walk the next 2 batters and then give up a grand slam, or all the tactics they tried that didn't end the losing streak. Remember when Maddon changed all the walk up songs to Nickelback songs to break their losing streak and it didn't work at all and then he lost his job? Most of those types of things have little to no impact - but we hang onto them like the guys a genius when they do.

I hope Schneider is amazing and the Jays go on a massive winning streak, but these types of stories are stupid.
