Wat. Were any of these guys top-10 in Minny's system?

Spencer Steer a major breakout this season. Think Jose Miranda last year.

Do you still follow baseball?

Man really hope Atkins has something big up his sleeve because I feel like a giant cuck right now.

There isn't really anything 'big' left.

There are some solid moves that can still be made but they aren't full on splash that'll shake up the team.

Hmmmm, what did his stuff look like? Was it flukey?

Haha not sure didn't watch.

I still think he can be a solid BP arm. Would be a nice signing in the offseason as a starter turning reliever reclamation project.

If he's good, why don't he hit good?

Heading into the the deadline I really didn't have the feeling that major acquisitions were needed. My wish list was bullpen help first, back end of the rotation/depth starter second, better quality left handed bat last. The first need has been addressed, we shall see what the final two hours bring with regards to patching up the other holes on the team.

Can’t wait to hear the same old excuses. You guys can’t honestly tell me you’re happy with just Bass and Pop?

This team was a World Series contender this morning, and they've made some solid upgrades to their main weak spot. I really don't think this team needed any major changes.

Only thing I'd like to add is depth, but that's harder to do at the trade deadline, since you want those sweet, sweet MiLB options.

Wait what? Maybe I'm biased since he's crushed us this year but why would they downgrade.

You sure this is not because we just played KC AAAA, Boston Bad news Bears and the Detroit Tiger Cubs?

2020

148 wRC+ in AA

118 wRC+ in AAA, but note the unlucky .248 BABIP

20 HR, 10% BB rate, 16% K rate across the two levels..... this is a good hitter

The Blue Jays were considered a World Series contender on Opening Day, though things have changed since then. Look I agree as well the Jays are a solid team and "if" they can get to the Postseason, they have as good of a chance against anyone. Any upgrades can only help and give the Blue Jays a better chance at going further. I love the Bass and Pop trade, though those two alone won't put this team over the top.

As well, lets see what the Jays do against teams like Tampa Bay, Minnesota, New York, Seattle over the next two months. They've beat up on some easy teams the past two weeks so I wouldn't get all excited and think this is the real team. It's funny how before this hot streak, everyone on here were panicking and crying for the Blue Jays to make significant upgrades. Now all of a sudden, posters like you and others are saying "this team is a World Series contender as is." Funny how things change that quickly.

The only thing they'll be doing in a couple years is trading any of those prospects that actually play well before they get to Arb 2.

Before the All Star break and before this hot streak, most posters on here said the Blue Jays needed to make 4 or 5 upgrades haha. Today though, the team is fine as is.

I believe there's a good chance the Jays see themselves in a league below the Yankees, Astros, Dodgers, Mets and even the Braves (and probably the Padres now). They'd have to mortgage all the future to try and jump up into that level (and still may fall short) would still have to beat them.

I suspect their plan is to simply strengthen the team without shooting themselves in the foot, get into the playoffs and hope you're on a heater at the right time so they have a chance to be the Braves and Nationals of 2019 and 2021.

I respect that evaluation and decision personally.

The issue is this team hasn't clicked fully. Vlad is underperforming to what we need him to be (some semblance of last year), Bo is underperforming, Lourdes has lost a lot of power, Kirk has regressed since his hot stretch (111 wRC in July), Romano has regressed, starting pitching has been flaky (Even Gausman), etc... etc...

You can't address all that with couple of big moves in the trade deadline.

Our biggest problem was we had no swing/miss and we got two who can fix that. But there's no way you can expect the FO to fix all the underperforming from everyone else during the trade deadline.

Like how do you expect to get Judge-ish level of performance from a trade deadline candidate so that we can 'compete' against Yankees on paper?

Most teams infront of us have MVP candidates - Judge, Alvarez, Freeman, Alonso; and our supposed MVP candidate might not even hit 30 HRs before the season wraps up.

Nah, more like the team is as fine as it's going to get this season so wishing for more is irrelevant

Padres still at it: They are acquiring Brandon Drury from the Reds, sources tell me and @Ctrent

I think you would be hard pressed to find a post from me that was panicking or crying for the Blue Jays to make a significant upgrade. My opinion on this team and their chances at the post season have not changed much at all this season.

So the Padres get:

- Juan Soto

- Josh Hader

- Josh Bell

- Brandon Drury

- Joe Musgrove extension

- Get rid of Eric Hosmer

...is that the greatest trade deadline of all time for a single team?

SS Victor Acosta, the Padres' No. 6 prospect, heading back to the Reds for Drury, per source.

We got Ben Revere to top it all off in 2015..... I think the jury is still out..

I never said the FO should fix everything at one trade deadline. I still think this is a solid team when things go right and click, though the Blue Jays still need to get to the Postseason. If they miss out on making the Postseason, what do you think happens? This team was considered one of the World Series favourites before the season started and they don't even make the Postseason? Would be a huge disappointment. One of the weaknesses of this team heading into the season was lack of depth and lack of high K% relievers.

The Blue Jays are still 57-44 with most of their current stars underperforming and some stars being injured on and off, like Guerrero, Bo, Lourdes (lack of power), Springer and some others. On paper, this is probably the best core the Blue Jays have had since 92/93. Doesn't hurt adding or upgrading the roster if possible to give them a better chance down the stretch and if they make the Postseason. They did a nice job adding Bass and Pop for the bullpen. Adding another starter really wouldn't hurt in case there is an injury to one of the Jays top three. Another BP arm wouldn't hurt as well.

As well, another factor we have to consider is the border restrictions, which might have limited the Jays from targeting certain players or arms discussed on this board.
