Ray Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Joc Pederson would be good to have as OF insurance. Pretty awful defensively, but maybe we can make it worth with Zimmer as a defensive sub. Still holding out hope for Syndergaard + Gregory Soto. Gregory Soto + Syndergaard + either JD Martinez or Joc Pederson. That would be a hell of a deadline.
jerb Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Mark Feinsand @Feinsand The price tag for Marlins starter Pablo Lopez is understandably high, but a source said the Dodgers might be making a final-hour push for the right-hander.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 The Angels are the Rockies with a higher payroll and Mike Trout. Edit: And Ohtani!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 If they trade Syndergaard who is supposed to start the remaining 10ish games they’ll need to cover?? Jose Suarez or someone else.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Contreras, Happ, and Smyly would be a nice fit for us, with Jansen+ going the other way
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Jose Suarez or someone else. They've got a couple of inning eating shitballers in the org
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I'd love to get Syndergaard back
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Contreras, Happ, and Smyly would be a nice fit for us, with Jansen+ going the other way We don't need Contreras. I would rather lessen the return by removing him. We could target Happ & Smyly for Orelvis Martinez (guessing the price is that high and Martinez seems like a great choice to sell now before his prospect ranking goes down with the Ks) Then we could grab Iglesias from the As and eat all the money for a midling Top 15-20 prospect on our system like Trent Palmer.

Contreras a better hitter than Jansen. We can't go into 2023 with all of Kirk, Moreno, Jansen on the roster. Rent the better hitter Contreras for the remainder of the season.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 We could really really use a starting pitcher. As of now we are relying on Stripling and Kikuchi as our #4-5 to carry us down the stretch and that's probably ok in theory. Stripling looks fine but I worry some about his workload. Kikuchi is a total wild card but he's the #5. The real problem is we have only Max Castillo in case of injury or Kikuchi not performing. I think we are a pretty solid lock for the playoffs but a couple of injuries to the rotation and it could tank our chances. We just need someone who can get through 5 innings with an ERA under 5.

Rent the better hitter Contreras for the remainder of the season. Trade Jansen in the offseason after he's completed his season. He's still got an OPS north of .900. Ride it out and hope it finishes above .800 so you can trade him for a haul.

Agreed 100%. I'd rather Stripling back in the bullpen as a shutdown long reliever and SP insurance.
