jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 It doesn't hurt getting another OF. If Springer or Teo or Guirrel miss time because on an injury, at least Jays won't be running out Tapia and Zimmer on an everyday basis. These next two months, the Jays can't afford having anyone significant miss any time, let alone replace them with below average and negative WAR players.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Update: Ross Atkins sent out all his trade offers on Fantrax.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Jon Berti can play CF Moreno for Bass and Berti?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Does Billy Hamilton still play baseball? If he does, he would bring some game changing speed and was a top prospect back in 2009!
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Moreno for Bass and Berti? Who says no?
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Jon Morosi @jonmorosi #BlueJays have interest in Ian Happ, whose ability to play center field is valuable in light of George Springer's recent injury. @MLBNetwork @Sportsnet Happ + Contreras + Givens or Robertson for Jansen Sandy Alcantara + Huascar Brazoban for Moreno Make those two trades and call it a day.

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Update: Ross Atkins sent out all his trade offers on Fantrax. He can't consumate any trades because the assistant GM forgot to take a player off the IL.....

Tapia's been better than Springer for the past 2 months +/-

Be informed that Berti is an above average bat for his career The Blue Jays need to add a player with an Italian last name to get some Italians off College Street and into the seats. Plus Team Italy not participating in the World Cup this winter, so Italians need baseball and the Postseason more than anything right now!

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Pasquantino?! I want some Pasquantino and Pratto!
polar bear Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Musical chairs and Jays might be left standing with nothing to sit on Wow!! How profound.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Either way Horwitz has to be traded for something. We don't really have room up here for him and he's eligible for Rule 5 Draft at the end of this season. Would be super bad if nothing happens with the dude to benefit us.

They just have to add him to the 40 man roster. Surely they have room on the 40 to protect Horwitz.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Sure, then bat Tapia leadoff in Game 1 of the Wildcard! I'm just pointing out a fact. You don't need to be a dick. Go back to spewing hilarious jokes about how Atkins is still sleeping and making offers through Fantrax. They are such a useful contribution to the board.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Gillick's philosphy was you don't trade for rentals until you are 1 or 2 players away from making a playoff run... When the Blue Jays built their core via the minors and used capital from their minors, to obtain, Alomar and Carter etc, it was during the building pgase he was called "Stand-Pat". Once he was within shooting distance, he traded a potential future HOF for a rental pitcher and similar moves in 93.. The result was two WS and as a fan and Jays fan at the time, it was fnnnnn worth it!! Yep. Some of our near misses before 92/93 also contributed to that handle. Big part of Gillick's philosophy in a couple interviews I saw was that he valued an impact bat, who could contribute to a W 7 days a week, much higher than a starter who could help you win every 5th day. He saw that as a no brainer.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 f*** right before we are facing them Come to the 6ix! I doubt Os would've done an inter-division trade.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 2.5 years of Lopez for Povich, Cano and some prospects yet to be announced. Interesting.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 LHP Cade Povich, RHP Yennier Cano, RHP Juan Nuñez and LHP Juan Rojas That's a lot of development to do
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 hmmm Povich has K-BB that jumps off the page, maybe he's legit legit
BlueJaysFever Verified Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Dang, that’s a nice pitcher for the Twins. On the positive side we play Baltimore 15 more times so not having to see Lopez is a plus

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 LHP Cade Povich, RHP Yennier Cano, RHP Juan Nuñez and LHP Juan Rojas That's a lot of development to do Honestly makes sense for the O's, assuming the baby arms have stuff Lopez is vastly overrated and possibly not an elite reliever.

Geez, you need to chill out man. I'm not the only one spewing jokes on here, but sure blame me. Seriously lighten up man! You don't need to point out that Tapia was hot for the last month. It doesn't mean anything in the long term. If you think he'll keep up that level of play, you're dreaming. The guy even got a inside the park home run gifted to him. Talk about luck. Glad he's climbed back up to a 0 WAR though and no longer is a negative player!
