If I recall correctly Gurriel's contract only runs through next season as there was misinformation floating around that he was eligible for salary arbitration after 2023.

I don't understand this whole thing, on one hand it says arb eligible in the article you posted, then it says FA. The other sites have FA 2025... Where is it saying he is a UFA end of 2023??

Blue Jays insiders such as Ben Nicholson Smith and Scott Mitchell are both quoted in the article I linked stating that Gurriel is a free agent after next season. It appears as though the contract tracking sites haven't been updated to reflect this reality.

It was some agreement in the original contract that he would be released at the end of 7 years (unless extended) regardless of his arbitration status.

Looks like the Stanton injury is more serious. Don't see them rushing Stanton back quickly given their lead in the division anyways. Benintendi with the short right field porch can be a nice fit at Yankee Stadium and provides the Yankees with nice OF depth even when Stanton gets back.

Replacing Gallo with Benintendi isn't exciting but it still improves an already extremely good Yankees team. I suspect they are going to be extremely active at the trade deadline.
