Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Dude's got 8 starts this year and they still don't have a headshot for him. I like our chances today!
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Also, more pitchers should use words like "flabbergasted".
Big BlueJay Verified Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Kirk on the bench again for the second time in 3 games ....
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Why the hell is our best hitter sitting out when we just had a day off? Springer needs to get his ass out there today while letting Kirk DH. Then Springer can DH tomorrow while Kirk catches. Not hard to figure out...

Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Whatever they are doing with Springer, load management wise, he hasn't been on the IL for the season thus far (knock on wood) - so, I'm happy for them to keep doing whatever keeps him off IL, even if it means Kirk misses a game (Its Detroit and this lineup can win without Kirk) cause Springer has to DH every other game.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 I don't understand why our FO or Charlie can't understand the logic in only giving guys the DH rest day when Kirk is catching. By choosing to do it on days he's not, you remove the best hitter from the lineup. It's common sense. It shouldn't be this hard.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Umm,,,,,Its not Springer making up the lineup card Really? Thanks for the info lol. Pretty sure my anger was directed towards whoever came to this decision. This franchise really makes you scratch their heads at times.

Agreed, the only thing I can think of is that they literally mapped out these DH days for Springer before the season even started, and they aren’t willing to adapt or budge from that set plan.
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 So since May 24th the Jays are 1st on fangraphs batting WAR at 6.7. Next closest team is at 5. Difference between 1st and 2nd is the same the as the difference between 2nd and 11th. Went back and looked all previous 2.5 week stretches this season and the Jays have by far the best one. Pitching was 13th during this stretch.

Seems like no matter what is happening on the field, whoever has finalized their prearranged plans must stick.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Having Kirk out ot the lineup right now under any circumstances is incredibly stupid.

Charlie and/or the org doesn’t know how to time these off days to the team’s advantage. If Kirk is going to catch 4 days a week, then you have 4 games a week to DH Springer/Vlad. That seems pretty reasonable. Just f’n plan the DH days for the days Kirk catches. They could have easily had Kirk DH today and Springer DH tomorrow with Kirk catching. It’s the Tigers so hopefully it doesn’t matter but if this was an important series against a good team then that would be horrendous. Tapia is going to end up with more PA’s than Kirk this season, and it will be done intentionally.

Buster Verified Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 How many tools does Tapia have? 1? 2?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 How many tools does Tapia have? 1? 2? Speed, Contact/Hit??? 2 i guess
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Speed, Contact/Hit??? 2 i guess God, I wish Zimmer could have an OBP of .300, his speed would change the game. Zimmer has just better everything than Tapia except can't get on base to save his life.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 I’m still confused why the Jays continue to roster both Tapia and Zimmer. Surely one of the younger options in AAA couldn’t possibly be worse.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Author Posted June 11, 2022 I love Arden Zwelling's work but he is extremely creepy on camera.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Another big game coming here
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Nobody got on, but good at bats Yeah they’ll definitely get to this guy soon. Maybe second time through
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Bats were all over Briske. Long ABs, and rockets of 103, 107 and 110 that just didn't find holes. xBA of .560 that inning. They're gonna score a lot of runs today if that continues.
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Three barrels three outs fml. 270, 900 and 510 xba. This Brieske guy sucks.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 I still do not understand the logic of pitching away when you shift to pull; you are literally asking the batter to tap it the other way through the giant hole.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
