Right now I simply cannot fathom 3 years of Kikuchi. When he gave up that 2 out 2 strike dinger to Bergman on a slider...here we go again.

 

I think he can be pretty good still. The 12 swinging strikes is really good for 2.2 IP. His control has never been great but it's never been THIS bad. So you can bank on the control improving. Hopefully the short spring can explain some of his early season troubles and he can get it going soon.

I think he can be pretty good still. The 12 swinging strikes is really good for 2.2 IP. His control has never been great but it's never been THIS bad. So you can bank on the control improving. Hopefully the short spring can explain some of his early season troubles and he can get it going soon.

 

Except he sucked in the second half last year, so this is really just a continuation and not an outlier. If it were a durability issue that affected him the second half, you think he would be Ace first half and then have issues later in the season I would assume..

He's not great, but with Ryu on the downswing of his career, he adds some important depth to the rotation.
