If the Jays manage to win this game now after that line-drive double play, I'll finally be at peace with the no-outs-bases-loaded Michael King double play from earlier this year. That inning still torments me to this day.

Ahhh, sweet closure.

leave it to our resident Freedom Fighters to ruin the message board after a glorious walk off win by refusing to shut the f*** up about politics

Too bad the gdt had to be closed. Lot of interesting things happened during that game. This is why we can't have nice things.:(

ps. for those of you inclined inundate the rest of us with your uninformed/uneducated viewpoints, there is the whole interweb out there for you to sound off. Let's stick to bball here.

Lots of interesting s*** from tonight's game. Teo had one of the worst lazy don't give a f*** baserunning blunders I think I've ever seen. How can you seriously manage to get thrown out on the bases on a pop-up to the catcher, especially with speed like he has? That's almost bad enough to warrant a game on the bench to wake the f*** up but that would likely just mean more Tapia in the lineup.

I couldn't believe Charlie didn't give Stripling a chance to pitch in the 6th inning, especially given how short handed the bullpen is right now. Expecting to cover 4 innings against the Red Sox with a 2 run lead intact was asking for way too much, and all too predictably they coughed up the lead. Thank f*** the Red Sox have a s***** bullpen as well.

Kirk needs to be in the lineup more often. I get that the team wants Springer manning the DH spot with regularity, but if having to choose between Springer and Kirk getting regular at bats it should be an easy choice to run Kirk out there. It's certainly nice to have one of baseball's hottest hitters off of the bench but the man needs more at bats than he's been receiving.

Only two Jays position players with a negative fWAR so far this season.

Zimmer -0.3

Tapia -0.8

Biggio 0.7 fWAR now with a 116 wRC+

I get that Tapia hasn't been a completely useless bag of s*** for the last month or so, but I'd say it's time to funnel any Tapia playing time over to Biggio.

Alejandro Kirk now has .946 OPS, 9th in MLB; UNREAL.

Vlad also entered the top 20 after an excellent June at .869 OPS - and he hasn't fully clicked yet.

And yet they’re just barely over .500 on the month. Pitching has been so bad ….

Yet the pitching kept them afloat in April. Crazy how a season goes.

I mean, it got started by someone genuinely suggesting Sox lost because Houck couldn’t pitch. “Politics” isn’t really a great word for it. Maybe “sensitive subject” or something.

The first posts about Houck were fine, Connor.

How hard is this to understand...

Hard to believe the names Thornton and Refsynder almost settled a big game between Jays Bosox and it's almost July. Makes me over joyed a certain someone didn't come in to pitch for Boston.

There are going to be players from each team that can't play up here because of Canada's entry requirements still. It's reality right now. Everyone will know that when the team declares those players inactive before a series. It's fine to state that their inactive, or the impact of not having them for that series, though when it digs deeper and attacks someone on a personal level based on a personal decision, I could see how some others on the board may take it personally as well.

Overall, I think we want all COVID behind us and from the looks of it, we're definitely almost there if not already as things are pretty much back to normal. So regardless of opinions or politics from last year on certain topics, lets enjoy baseball!

Kirk and JRam are the only players in the top 10 that have more BB's than K's. That is the most impressive part for me.

CD's thoughts for the day:

How can Salvador Perez play everyday when not injured and why can't Kirk? There is like an 11 yr age gap...

The pen sucks. We need more pitching in general. Captain Obvious. However, the deadline is August 2nd this year. Too far away in baseball time to wait IMO. We need to make some moves now/sooner, or we will be paying for it in September..

Don't all get boners about beating a depleted Red Sox Team at home. Not the same Team we will see next time in Fenway..

Carry on!

Bednar or bust!!!

A depleted Red Sox team? They were missing one player, that's not exactly a team decimated with injuries or something.

No there not. They are also missing Duran, their leadoff hitter recently and offensive spark plug. They are also missing and expecting back in July, Hernandez a starter and everyday player and hence they are giving Jackie Bradley jr playing time.. They are also expecting, Nathan Evoldi, Whitlock and Barnes back in July.

Regardless, last night in the 9th, even having just Houck would have probably led to a different result..

That's a good point if they are missing quite a few players, but the Jays aren't exactly playing at full strength either. Ryu is out for the season, and they are missing Garcia, Merryweather and Pearson from the pen. Each team is missing plenty of contributors so this does not somehow take away from a nice victory for the Jays last night. No excuses are needed here, the better team for the evening won the game.

I agree the better team won last night. What I am saying is, let's keep our eye on the prize and not let that exciting win gloss over that there are some serious underlying problems with the Team that have been, and will be exposed when playing better competition..

Red Sox play 20 of their next 23 games against Jays, Rays, Yankees

We'll see what they're made of

They're 7-16 against the AL East so far this season

This team is going nowhere if they don't make additions to the bullpen. Hopefully they can eventually get Berrios turned around, but another starter is almost certainly a must as planning on both Berrios and Kikuchi getting their s*** together is an awfully tall order. It would be a shame to waste this offence as it very well maybe the best lineup in baseball now that the team is clicking offensively.

I just don't know how they're supposed to fix the bullpen mid season in a cost efficient way. They could spend assets to get a couple decent relievers and then those relievers could come in and f***ing blow chunks and start costing us games right away.

Brad Hand was a piece of s*** last year for us and now he has 0.7 fWAR so far this season.

Richards was awesome for us last year and now he's completely useless when healthy.

Even Cimber the FIP beater has been getting knocked around lately.

Kimbrel is an elite closer went from the Cubs to the White Sox and sucked balls. Now he's good again LA.

Going to have to get lucky for this pen to get turned around. Hopefully some solid internal options emerge.

Yeah they need a SP and about 2 high leverage (high velo) bullpen arms. They should also look to upgrade on Tapia as far as a LH OF (especially since the team/Buntoyo don’t like playing 2 catchers together often), but they can probably get by with the offense for the most part. It’s the pen that’s going to hurt them.

A SP of value/control will cost the most. Pen arms of value and an upgrade on Tapia should cost less and can offset to a large degree the Kooch and Berrios factors. We need to pray big money and prospects signing Berrios finds it because if he doesn't it's simply a very steep hill to climb for our Jays. Without a pen remotely resembling the Braves pen and their performance in the playoffs last year we are not going anywhere.
