Guess we gotta hope nobdy hits anything to CF. The worst OF defender out in CF...Would Teoscar not be a far better idea for these games? I get they dont want to take the new Babe Ruth out of the lineup right now, but ... CF?

Clearly the BLue Jays nation is out in full force stuffing the ballot box. Love to see it

I haven't been voting every day, but when I have, straight Blue Jays, 'cause I ain't no traitor!

I have to admit. I have been voting for all Jays almost everyday, I didnt realise it would turn out like this, but This is great, If this was the final voting with Kirk, Vlady, Bo and George all getting voted in with Espinal second a well as Teo and Lourdes in 7 and 8. I can see them changing it from Fan voting.Keep voting guys its looking great. Huge difference in voting for Marcus this year as well. I know he had a horrid start but wow his voting is way down...

A f***ing abomination. It can go in the trash along with the Red jerseys

Well, there were about 4-5 Teams that put the Maple Leaf /Canadian Flag on their uniform on Canada Day. The Jays are playing in the U.S July 4th, so only fitting.

Kirk could win the MVP and still get benched twice a week for Tapia.

I have Salvador Perez on 3-4 of my Fantasy Teams so I am familiar with his playing time. The dude is a catcher, 32 years old and plays almost every friggin day...Kirk is 23 years old!!

That bastard montoyo always puts together a horrible batting lineup. He is just like that bastard gibbons. They both especially ruin the order of the bluejays batting lineup. The bluejays managers do this all the time in every game of every season.

Ya! They also created AIDS and global warming.

f***ing losers!

Kirk and espinal should never bat ahead of Hernandez, gurriel and Chapman. This should be the bluejays lineup every day. Springer bitchette Guerrero Hernandez gurriel Chapman espinal Kirk tapia/biggio.

Have you actually watched a baseball game?

6 years. Manoah, Romano and Mayza and that’s it. 29th in the league in swinging strikes.

These guys can’t develop pitching at all and it’s an org problem. It’s not on the manager even if he’s set up to be the lightning rod.

Not sure why media is not talking about Romano's struggles more. He is far from dominating and incredibly lucky. Not to mention his velocity issues lately.

He's going to join the all time greats of Kevin Gregg and Miguel Batista with his continued performance

Because he's getting lucky. His ERA looks good enough and he leads the AL in saves.

His Velocity was fine Sunday. Seems like he needed more than 1 day of rest to recover from that stressful outing.

Pics or it didn't happen... maybe the team the Jays are playing. :P

To me it’s lack of control. He usually has good stuff but he misses middle or wild.

We had a terrible ump last night who I thought favored Chicago but we also couldn’t actually put the ball in the spots where the ump was calling crazy strikes.

Let’s face it too, romano is like the 4th best guy on the Yankees? He’s being thrust into a situation that is kind of unfair to his talents but has mostly got lucky.

I don't know about that, but our pen is in deep s***. Romano is a very useful arm but inconsistent and far from shutdown stuff.

So many heap praise on Shatkins for their pen approach because of reliever volatility etc. Then we spend 2/11 on Yimi. We don't seem to be developing any plus relievers with swing and miss in our system as converted starters or whatever. Its half pregnant and half assed.

The pen adds for any real playoff run are going to be massive cost. Everyone is competing for same arms with the BoSox now back neck & neck with us. So we will either get a Brad Hand at the deadline etc etc or an overpriced asset now.

Well what do they do about it? Short term and long term?

The next 10 days might be the most important of the season.

You mentioned that they don't need to do much at the deadline if a playoff spot was secure. However you also mentioned they were a rough 10 days from being in a dog fight. They are now in that dog fight and a rough 10 days from being 5 games back of a playoff spot. Where will they be in 10 days? In a month?

What do they do at the deadline? How do they get guys who can help now? How do they develop guys who can help long term.

If you can’t create your own, we need to trade for them. It sucks to be in a division with the best front offices and to just have a good one but we just need to accept a shortened window and make the trades.

Trade good prospects soon for pen arms. Absolutely trade Jansen to any contender for relievers.

Accept that our window will be shorter because our front office isn’t super good at developing pitching.

Maybe they’ve turned it around in the low minors and the last few drafts but the window is open right now. Spend the resources and accept the shorter window.

Yeah he has poor command. Quite poor.

I think we also need to recognize that we have been going to the well too much for sustainable success with the pitchers we currently have.

I remember after the 2020 season Borucki was on a pod cast that Stripling and another guy he hosts with (I think a Dodgers player). Anyway, Borucki said that by the end of the 60 game season the whole pen was gassed, going down the stretch and into that two game playoff with the Rays they were running on fumes.. Montoyo was using the heck out of them and the majority of starters were not going long either due to quick hook by Charlie to go to the pen, artificially low pitch count limits or performance.

I recognize 2020 was a different season in terms of preparation times etc. However, we just passed the 60 game mark a week or so ago and are about game 68 or so... I see the same dynamics in play. The long start by a starter is an anomaly vs a norm. The pen is being relied on way too much, especially guys who are middle/long relief since they are not good enough to be much else. The bullpen just looks gassed already and has been exposed due to the frequency of use.

One of the solutions, but not easy at this point, is to get more out of starters and then that will have a positive collateral effect on the pen.

Additionally, as many have mentioned, guys who can create swing and miss.
