Red Sox have joined the Freddie Freeman sweepstakes as things get more interesting. Teams known to be in now: the Dodgers plus 4 from AL East: Yankees, Rays and Jays, too

lol. I mentioned that on the vaccination thread. It would be weirdly ironic if the vaccination rule forces the Red Sox to reshuffle a bit to get vaccinated players, and ends up with them going hard and getting Freeman.

Rays must just be trying to drive up the price for the rest of the ALE

The fact that some the best run orgs in baseball are all in on Freeman gives us a clue as to how highly he's regarded.

Which makes it even more confusing that the Braves, coming off the financial windfall of winning the World Series, didn’t tack on that 6th year to just get it done.

I love the player but I would rather spend this $$$ elsewhere. Our DH spot has been used creatively recently. We have our 1st baseman for the next 6 years already covered.

This move to add an awesome LH hitting player would strengthen the team but also limit it in some ways. There are better ways to invest the money required to sign FF. As long as the team still spends I am happy letting Freeman go to another team.

If Freeman signs with anyone in the AL East but us I will take back everything I said about him and will instead hold the position that he's a declining and overpaid bat.

The DH spot was awful last year, probably the Jays worst position, well that and third,

Probably not repeatable. Most of the damage was done by Springer and Gurriel DHing while injured, Rowdy sucking and Randall Grichuk getting DH at bats.

If it is going to be 'Rotating DH', need to make sure Grichuk and McGuire are like the 11th and 12th guys in line for at bats. Don't want them to get Dh at bats, or get extra at bats when someone else is rotated into DH.

As much as I'd like to see him be able to free up 1b, this just looks like a ground ball exercise that any infielder would get.

Vladdy is gonna be 3B eligible on Yahoo this year. He's not gonna play there every night but it looks like they're going to reward him for his hard work and at least see what he can do there.

I would rather see Biggio at 1B and Vladdy at 3B than the other way around if we ended up needing one of those configurations (due to off days or day to day injuries to like Bichette/Espinal)

While Dodgers on the surface seem a very attractive option, hearing not to assume they are favored. Some AL East teams (and others?) — including Red Sox — very much in play.

Practicing scooping low throws to first?

This is a horrible take by Tim & Friends. That's a Valle training glove (it's probably like an 8 or 9" glove) and he's doing isolated infielders work with it. This isn't scooping a ball at first either. I do the same drill with my 3 boys who are all under 11.

Orioles are going to land him outta nowhere...

They saw that they were given a less then 1% chance to make the playoffs and they got excited.

Freeman is not the guy we need to overpay for. Of course if love him on the team but he's not the perfect fit like a Jose Rameriz.

I agree at least until he proves he absolutely can't handle it
