Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 If the Rays got rid of him, you know he ain't right. Rays have f***ed up in the past. Trading Willy Adames for example was really f***ing stupid.

Adames couldn't hit in the Trop though. Well documented. But yes, they ought to have gotten better value for him. I'm sure TB has f***ed up before and will again though. They have 40 man roster crunches too - so someone had to go.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 He would take up a roster spot and he isn't worth it. Minor league deal only for a broken down bum like Anderson.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Anderson pitched 16 innings in AAA guys. There is quality data from that sample on his stuff. He's likely not worth an MLB roster spot. Simple.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2022 Author Posted November 10, 2022 Rafael P. probably makes it in if he doesn’t do that big speech in front of Congress pointing his finger. That will keep him out. Other than that, I think his failed test would’ve gone under the radar I was at the first game @ the Skydome after his suspension was over. Dude put in MASSIVE ear plugs half way through the game 'cause he was getting booed MERCILESSLY (and for some reason, they let him play 1B that game... I'm pretty sure anyway) One of my favourite "in person" baseball moments.

Ray Verified Member Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Robert Suarez's contract is an early indicator that this free agency market is going to be absolutely nuts.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Robert Suarez's contract is an early indicator that this free agency market is going to be absolutely nuts. No. Just the Padres are stupid.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 No. Just the Padres are stupid. Did they just bid against themselves, again, lmao?
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Yusei Kikuchi as a 10 million dollar a year reliever for the next two years doesn't sound so bad after the Suarez deal
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Did they just bid against themselves, again, lmao? Yup. I don't think Suarez gets that on the open market at all. Don't understand the logic behind it.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Yusei Kikuchi as a 10 million dollar a year reliever for the next two years doesn't sound so bad after the Suarez deal If he can pitch like Andrew Miller, for sure!
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 One thing I hope they don’t do is f*** around with Kikuchi in the rotation at all next season. Try to salvage him as a reliever. It’s already a horrendous blunder. He showed atleast potential as a swing and miss reliever but he still doesn’t throw enough strikes to be a real threat.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Went to look up Suarez's expected contract on Fangraphs' FA list and he doesn't even show up bc he's not among the Top 50.

Its worth giving him 1 more shot in the rotation, see if they can fix the mechanics/mental issues in spring training. He’s got 2 years left. I’d give him until May in the rotation, if he looks like crap then he’s in the bullpen for the rest of the contract.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 lmao, there's no way Suarez was beating that on the market. Preller is a bad GM.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Well the Padres are dumb but the Mets also gave a closer 100m. There’s definitely going to be a snowball effect from that.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 14 players got a QO this year... Aaron Judge (Yankees) Trea Turner (Dodgers) Xander Bogaerts (Red Sox) Jacob deGrom (Mets) Dansby Swanson (Braves) Carlos Rodón (Giants) Brandon Nimmo (Mets) Willson Contreras (Cubs) Chris Bassitt (Mets) Anthony Rizzo (Yankees) Tyler Anderson (Dodgers) Martín Pérez (Rangers) Joc Pederson (Giants) Nathan Eovaldi (Red Sox)
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 This also happened: Opening at 3rd for Curtis Mead

TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Opening at 3rd for Curtis Mead I hope you got your bases mixed up.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Think anyone of those guys accepts? I'm pretty surprised Tyler Anderson, Bassitt, Perez and Pederson were offered QO's. I think all 4 could certainly accept. Pederson had a dead cat bounce, but I can't imagine he's going to get anywhere close to $20M a year on the open market.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 I hope you got your bases mixed up. Nah, Yandy is a s***** 3B. 1B only going forward
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 I'm guessing Kershaw signed with the Dodgers for 20M.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Think anyone of those guys accepts? Those bottom four should all accept. Rizzo should too but I don’t think he will. Nobody is going to want to give up a pick to sign him.
