Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 Adames is gonna have fun hitting at Fenway. I'm confused.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 I'm confused. I got baited. I saw that Adames was traded to the Red Sox.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 (edited) Red Sox just DFA'd Jeter Downs. WTF happened to him? Had really good numbers before the trade and looked like a polished hitter but has been horrendous in the Boston system. lmao Lol they are having one hell of an offseason Edited December 15, 2022 by Terminator

Worked for the Rays and got a job he's not good at because of it.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2022 Author Posted December 15, 2022 Some smart team will claim him and fix him I'd take a flyer on a MiLB deal, but no way I give him a 40 man roster spot.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 You're the fish that gets caught over and over and over again by a 2 yr old beginner. In fairness it looked pretty legit. He was even trending. And the top 4 comments were all related to the Red Sox.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 Fangraphs article on why teams are signing such long deals is interesting. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/why-are-teams-issuing-extremely-long-contracts/ Macroeconomic trends and interest rates are driving longer term deals.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 2016 was a bit of a bump year look at some of these. I don't think many of these worked out for the teams. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016-mlb-free-agent-tracker/sort_column-aav__sort_direction-0 Could probably say JA Happ was the best FA starter signed that offseason.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Nice signing by the Guardians. If Zunino is healthy, he can definitely hit out 30 HR's and provide good defense behind the plate.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 After Swanson, there isn't anyone decent left on the SS market. Swanson likely gets $25M + per season over 9-10 years in this market. When you think about it, once Swanson signs somewhere, Bo's trade market will be through the roof. Already is probably.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Cole, Rodon, Cortes, Severino, and Montas is a damn good rotation. If the Yankees add a LF, then they are going to be tough.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Rodon to the Yankees. 6/162 I figured that is where he would end up… Damn

I think Cortes takes a step back in 2023, but Cole, Rodon, Severino at the top if they're all healthy will be dominant. AL East will be a bloodbath.

I still think their lineup is garbage if Judge regresses to just really, really good.

Not sure what to make of Stanton anymore. Outside of Torres, rest of the lineup is pretty old. Sure someone surprises like Oswaldo Cabrera and puts up a career year. Its the Yankees haha.

There's a good chance the left side of the Yankees infield by mid season is Volpe and Peraza. They will have a full year of Bader in CF. They will add a LF (likely one of Conforto/Brantley/Benintendi/Peralta), which should be an upgrade over Joey Gallo and Aaron Hicks. It's also possible that they run with JD and IKF at 3B and SS again, so who knows, but I think their offense is probably going to trend upwards from last season.

Yeah they likely bring back Benintendi or sign Conforto or Brantley for LF. They also likely get lucky with one of their young players or another player they sign.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Curious to see where Texas pivots with Rodon of the board. They have a 0.500 ish team, and their best players are 35, 32, and 29 this season so they need to win now.

Their rotation now is deGrom, Heaney, Gray, Perez and Odorizzi with guys like Dunning and Otto Jr as their depth starters. Not bad, but nothing spectacular. Nathan Eovaldi is probably the top SP left on the market. Rangers could add another big bat like a JD Martinez or a 3B like Justin Turner.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Most of the top FAs are all off the market now. Crazy how this last week has been. I think we'll start seeing some more blockbuster trades pop up after Christmas/New Years.
Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 WTF? Isn't he a backup catcher? Every player should sign with the Mets because they will overpay.
