So Yu Darvish is cooked?

I don't understand how the Giants keep doing what they do. Their lineup, by all accounts, is terrible but they absolutely caved him.

No one's going to tell me that the Grichuk trade was good for us and I'm not even a huge fan of his.

I tried to tell y’all Grichuk is a great 4th OF option. People just hated his salary. But look at the crap we’re gonna be running out now this season, Tapia/Zimmer… if one of our OFs gets injured things could look ugly.

It was a gesture of goodwill for the FO to trade him so he got steady playtime.

Although the difference between Grich vs Tap/Zim probably amounts to less than a 1 WAR difference

Jesus Luzardo is doing despicable things to the Angels.

Seth Beer can hit. Guy might have the weirdest career arch of any player. He was basically an MLB ready platoon hitter at like 19, lmao.

Woof Luzardo for two months of Starling Marte is gonna sting

Extremely odd move for a penny-pinching team like Oakland. Its not like they were even a solid enough team that “going for it” and grabbing Marte made sense.

It was not about his salary. It was about his results after the month of May every year, his OBP, K rate, etc, etc, coupled by the fact he did not provide plus D to compensate.

No way in hell you can assess this trade in April.

If you do want to talk about contracts and $, the Grichuk deal/extension was an example of one of the ones they got wrong. To the FO’s credit, they have got about 70% right. Grichuk just wasn’t one of them.

No f***ing s***. Grichuk hasn't been worth more than 0.5 WAR since his first year in Toronto.

I still don't get people obsessing over Grichuk. We got a very intriguing prospect for him, a player who had the same WAR last year(in less games played), and we save money.

I'm also not sure why people are labeling Zimmer as a crap 4th OFer already, while sucking Grichuk off. The 2 times in his career he's played more then 40 games he's put up 1.1 and 1.6 WAR. He was worth 1.1 in 99 games last year compared to Grichuk's 0.4 in 149 games.

It takes a special type of player to put up 30 HRs and only have 0.5 WAR.

Thank you, I've been trying lately. I've been thinking about taking my talents to Twitter. Not sure how my style of trolling on here will fit in with Jays Twitter though.

He's got me chuckling more often than not, lol. Jim fell for that immediately, then you ruined it. :(

There should be a Joe Carter award for such an accomplishment, although the bar would need to be set higher (or lower actually?) as Carter managed a -0.6 WAR with 30 home runs once.

I definitely hear what you are saying. Carter's final two years he got 100 RBI in each while putting up -2 WAR total. He also put up -2 WAR in his final season for the Padres alone lol. That's 3 years with 100 RBI and -4 WAR. Yikes.

But he gets a bad rap around here. He was a legitimately good player for us his first 3-4 years but was kept around long past his time for his age 35-37 years. It's not really his fault that the team kept employing him and batted him in the middle of the lineup year after year.

I'll forever love Carter for that HR, not a fan of his personality, though.

What's wrong with his personality? Seemed like a really likable guy to me

I don't know if there will ever be another sporting moment in my lifetime that can replace the pure elation I felt when Joe's homerun cleared the fence. I was literally jumping up and down with joy. What about his personality turned you off? I tuned out of baseball for quite a few years after the 94 strike so didn't follow the team much at all until the 2000's rolled around, maybe I missed some kind of drama during that time.

I would think yhe would be laughing all the way to the bank. He was one of the top 10 paid players in the game while performing below replacement level from 1995 till his retirement
