jerb Verified Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Jeff Passan @JeffPassan BREAKING: The Seattle Mariners are finalizing a trade to acquire All-Star outfielder Jesse Winker from the Cincinnati Reds, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.
Ray Verified Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Good get for Seattle. Wonder what they gave up
jerb Verified Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Mark Feinsand @Feinsand The Mariners are also acquiring Eugenio Suarez in the deal with the Reds, per source.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 The Mariners are finalizing agreement on a deal that would bring in star outfielder Jesse Winker from the Reds, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN (Twitter link). Seattle is also acquiring third baseman Eugenio Suárez, reports Mark Feinsand of MLB.com (on Twitter). More to come.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Seattle is going to be dangerous this season. Making some pretty good moves.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 The Reds are a pathetic organization and I hope their fans don't show up for this s***. In the last two offseasons they've traded Iglesias, Gray, Winker, and Suarez for almost nothing but salary relief.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 the f*** kind of return is that for Winker and Suarez? THat's embarassing

glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 What else could the Jays get if they took Moustakas?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 So does this trade set the market for what type of return Ramirez might get? Friendlier contract compared to Olson but they are same years of control, similar caliber players with Ramirez having a longer track record. Maybe that makes the Jays equivalent Groshans, Pearson, Kirk and Hoglund? Doubt Indians would get Moreno or Orelvis. I overly love prospects, but I'm not sure I do that for 2 years of Ramirez
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 What else could the Jays get if they took Moustakas? At this rate, they could probably get India.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 the f*** kind of return is that for Winker and Suarez? THat's embarassing To be fair - this was exactly the type of deal we were discussing for the Jays - it would include one of their starters with either Suarez or Moose to cover 3rd base. We eat contract and give up a f*** ton less in the process. After getting Kikuchi, this Winker/Suarez deal would have been a near perfect fit for the Jays. Too bad!

That would have been an excellent trade for us
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 what would the equivalent prospects have been for the Jays to get Winker/Suarez?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 4:01pm: Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reports (on Twitter) that the deal also contains a player to be named later. He adds that Cincinnati believes that still-unknown player “enhances” the quality of their return.

Incredible stuff here from Ken - I was convinced that adding another player in return would make Cinny's return even shittier...
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 I overly love prospects, but I'm not sure I do that for 2 years of Ramirez I think the trade would be a bit easier to swallow since we would keep the two crown jewels of the system

RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 So the Reds are just giving up? Thats what they have been signalling all off season. Talking about cutting payroll. Letting Miley walk, getting, mediocre returns for Gray and now packaging Winker with Suarezs contract.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 So the Reds are just giving up? They traded a relatively cheap All-Star OFer in his prime to get out of Suarez' contract. It's pathetic.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Man, this is exciting! Listening to pods on these big deals and reports on spring training opening. Delirious heaven of Baseball palooza post lock out. JD a Yank, Sanchez a Twin...barely time to absorb and Olson deal punts Freddy. Also. Reds suck!
