its good idea to bring back Josh Donalson as 3b for blue jays on 2022.

now , we still have option for kris bryant or even have option to move Bo Bichette to 3 B if we get

good short stop.

what do you think?

Vladimir Guerrero JR should be at 3rd with Pujols at first and maybe Miguel Cabrera at DH.

Imagine the numbers Guerrero would put up with those two protecting him.

It would be ridiculous to think 42 year old Pujols or 38 year old Cabrera could play 3rd better than a 23 year old Guerrero.

I know people want more left right balance, but what about just f***ing the l/r balance and going with a right handed power team. Could move the lf fence in 20 feet or something

cf Springer

ss Bichette

3b Guerrero

1b Pujols

dh Cabrera

rf Hernandez

lf Gurriel

c Kirk

2b Kevin Smith

Pujols and Cabrera hitting 4/5?

When was the last time you actually watched baseball?

So you’re still unfamiliar with Olerud’s trolling style?

I like it, we would never see Grichuk in the lineup.

lol. Maybe we can trade Teoscar for a good relief pitcher. Then we can have Pujols, Cabrera and Grichuk as the middle of the order.

Earlier in the offseason someone was posting offseason plans that inevitably involved Pujols. Maybe it was Hongsw84 under a different name, maybe it was a troll, maybe it was someone who actually wanted to get Pujols. I don't know. Whatever the case acquiring Pujols seems to be becoming an inside joke.

We should think about signing Prince Fielder as DH

Even though I’ve probably heard it before, I still don’t understand if guys like him get paid when they retire

He retired because of a degenerative spine, he gets paid.

I don't really understand it myself. I am sure if a player just gets sick of it and retires he doesn't get paid. I believe Ben Zobrist famously did this and his ex-wife sued him and accused him of retiring so she'd get less money.

However there is another "type" of retirement where the player is injured like Fielder, "retires" so the team has the roster spot, but still gets paid. Are there two types of "retirement"? Did Fielder really retire? Or get released and not want to play anymore so he then retired?

Maybe that is all there is to it. Injured players get released first, so they are owed the money, then retire.

Found this...

Though he’s not actually retiring, he’s also not receiving clearance to return, which means functionally the same thing. The difference is important to the Rangers, but it doesn’t matter to the fans.

Check out the first 2 comments to the article, weird, one would even say spooky!!!

Oh and just found this...

Sign his dad too! Those father/son duos are always great for marketing... Though, IIRC they don't get along at all.

It's pretty simple actually. The injured player cannot physically return to play, but still is under contract for however many years. He stays on the 40 man roster in the offseason, and goes straight to the 60 day DL as soon as it opens, which opens up the roster spot for the club. The fact that he remains on the 40 in the offseason sucks a bit, since that's a spot they cant use to protect someone from the Rule 5 draft. When his contract is over, he retires.

Technically he could have chosen to retire earlier and give up all that cash, but ... why give up all those millions when you don't have to?

I think teams can get out of the 40 man obligation by releasing the player, still have to pay the contract but don't have to use a spot.

If team doesn't release a player, I assume they are obligated to work with the training staff and try to rehab. Can't imagine a situation where a guy would be on the 40 man, but be able to sit at home eating Doritoes. Either gets released or has to legitimately try to rehab.

Fielders case he must have got released, but on amiable terms, team and Fielder agreed he couldn't do the rehab so released him to get the 40 man spot back.
