Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 The World Series will be easy to make. It's funny because I don't view the Orioles as a near-100 loss team anymore but because of the division they are in, they are scheduled to be pounded into the ground and last place in the AL once again.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 That’s quite strange. Short week for Jays and Rays hitters in fantasy! This tweet is wrong, well, when I look at the updated schedule it is. Maybe a couple double headers have been added.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 I don't want to go against the science of Fangraphs but I feel a lot of these are off. Especially the AL West where I see the Angels, M's and Rangers doing better than their estimates. Tigers too. Reds, Pirates, Rockies way worse. I know it's difficult to project a 100 loss team but those ones are likely headed there.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Kirk looks like he dropped some weight.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Had no choice trying to squeeze those games lost due to the lockout. Makes sense
Henderson33 Verified Member Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Provided the money saved from a Freeman deal is used to improve the IF or getting another bullpen arm I am quite alright with that being the move. Schwarber and a guy like Matt Chapman helps us a lot more than just Freeman, and if Ramirez or Ketel Marte (if he would go back to 2B full time) are available that would be even better. I love Freeman but he never made much sense for this lineup.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Only Harold Reynolds could construct a lineup where in a Schwarber scenario the two lefty bats in the lineup are hitting 5th and 7th lol. But hey Gurriel's well protected in that situation!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Makes sense According to that tweet, they must be adding DH's in there, the Jays are playing teams around them dates... https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/schedule/2022-07

He's married to a Canadian, and did some work with the Vancouver Canadians a few years back with colour commentary, but haven't heard anything since then.

jerb Verified Member Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Maury Brown @BizballMaury Something new happening in MLB social media: The Braves are directly releasing contract details and beating out the insiders. Not sure if this is due to being owned by Liberty Media or not, but it’s something we rarely — if ever — see. Maury Brown @BizballMaury So in a few minutes, hearing these clubs now releasing contract details direct: Braves W Sox Giants Blue Jays Can’t imagine this is the end.
jerb Verified Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Rob Longley @longleysunsport Just spoke with Jose Berrios, who tells me he will get the start for Friday’s Grapefruit League opener against Baltimore. Berrios said he hopes to get two or three innings in. Feels strong after 26 pitch live BP session yesterday. #Bluejays.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Lol f*** them if they want that much for only one year of Ramirez. Keep him. Maybe the Jays get him for free next off season.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 It seems like we should still have money left since Chapman's salary is pretty reasonable. Does Kenley Jansen become the most reasonable remaining free agent to spend that money on?

I'd think another trade might be more likely...or they'll hold off and save the money for a deadline deal once they see where in season needs take them.

Davie Verified Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Still need a LH impact bat imo. With Schwarber/Freeman off the board, who can we target?
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Would still like to see another good high leverage reliever brought in but not many left. Tepera or Chafin might be the best bang for the buck options left out there.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 basically 20M yearly for Suzuki. I can see why were weren't in for that.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 I wouldn't trade Manoah straight up for him
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 The worst player on this team is Grishuk, who might still provide positive value. The next one after him is a toss up between Espinal, Biggio and some faceless #8 BP pitcher. Let that sink in for a moment. This team has come a long way from granting 1,000+ PA a year to Ryan Goins and John McDonald types. That, over anything else is a sign this team is legit.
