AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 He was a really bad pitcher, but turns out, he is an even worse human.

I agree, which is why which is why i wonder why do they even bother with 40 to 60 years....when it can be all over in 20 minutes.....in an electric chair.

Where's the suffering in that though? This dude deserves to have his ******* turned into a yawning cave in prison.

Exactly - let him become the prison bitch until he decides to kill himself. That's the type of suffering he deserves.

If I did support the death penalty, guys like this would be first in line.

Guys like him don't survive prison. As soon as he hits general population, he'll be dead inside of a week. Criminals don't take kindly to people that mess with kids
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Not sure if that makes me feel better about Gausman from a Jays perspective lol.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Not sure if that makes me feel better about Gausman from a Jays perspective lol. He is just stating a fact. SF never made him an offer.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 He is just stating a fact. SF never made him an offer. ...the the follow-up question to that would be 'Why didn't SF make an offer?' Were there red flags? Do they know something the rest of us don't?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 ...the the follow-up question to that would be 'Why didn't SF make an offer?' Were there red flags? Do they know something the rest of us don't? Depends on why he felt the need to clarify the issue. He could have just been addressing rampant twitter speculation from fans that he chose Toronto over SF with offers from both. Toronto never offered Ray or Semien anything in the offseason officially other than the QO's either... so did we know something the other teams didn't?

Toronto never offered Ray or Semien anything in the offseason officially other than the QO's either... so did we know something the other teams didn't? For Semien...We knew that what he was asking for we couldn't make work due to payroll parameters (current and future with Bo and Vladdy needing deals in the future). As for Ray, I heard that we offered the same thing to both Ray and Gausman and it was basically, whoever accepts first gets the contract. Whether that's true I don't know...but this is what I read.

Correct, there were rumours, but nothing was confirmed. Its all speculation. Essentially he got 1 million more per year in Seattle, so yeah.. it does make a bit of sense that the offer may have been on the table for both guys and Gausman took it first. But, if that was the case, why would Seattle have paid more if they knew Toronto was out of it after signing Gausman? Meh. I really find Ray's statement after signing with Seattle interesting. It's like he had it pre-made for either Seattle or the Jays. "There's something special going on here with a team coming off a 90 win season and I'm excited to be a part of it."

Toronto never offered Ray or Semien anything in the offseason officially other than the QO's either... so did we know something the other teams didn't? Semien got severely overpaid in what was expected so that makes sense. Ray was looking to get slightly more than what we gave Gausman so I thought we did give an offer and we just chose whoever accepted first. Gausman got more closely to what was expected so that makes it more concerning why the Giants wouldn't even bother trying to match that offer. I'm sure you see the difference. Again, it could been strictly budget related for the Giants and really wanted him back but couldn't make it. I just said it doesn't make me feel better as a Jays fan knowing this tidbit, which was probably aimed at the San Fran crowd as to why he chose the Jays over the Giants.

Do they know something the rest of us don't? If I remember correctly, The Mets came in with a higher offer than what we gave, so maybe the Giants were not comfortable trying to beat out The Mets
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Most likely, the Giants knew 2021 was a Cinderella season and they are simply not that good. And didn't want to give a 31 yr old pitcher a 5 year deal.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 So who else is ready for further evidence that the BBWAA sucks balls?
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 So who else is ready for further evidence that the BBWAA sucks balls? Is there any way to allow fans to vote out BBWAA voters?
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 So who else is ready for further evidence that the BBWAA sucks balls? Is it looking like just Ortiz will be inducted?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 Is it looking like just Ortiz will be inducted? That's the conjecture at this point yeah. Based on historical trends from the publicly announced ballots to the private ones... they anticipate if anyone gets in this year it will be Ortiz only. Which, of course, would be beyond stupid and make the Hall an even bigger joke than it is now, but that seems to be how the Hall likes it.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 Is it looking like just Ortiz will be inducted? According to this link Bonds and Clemons are still in the running. https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?resid=F2E5D8FC5199DFAF!39939&ithint=file,xlsx&authkey=!AK9u16pmWGGlQsI
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 It will either be Ortiz or no one. It's a joke.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 Pretty defensible ballot. I would have added 2 of Jones, Helton, Arod and Manny but the rest is solid.
