He's a moron and meddles in the front office business.

He's currently the chair of the Blue Jays, and their control person with major league baseball. If he wanted/wants to meddle, he can be doing so as is. He seems to love Shapiro and is allowing payroll to escalate. He's good for the Jays.

Not according to his family, and no he is not good for the Jays.

Remind me, is this the same idiot who tried to get rid of Masai?

Yes... and didn't want our current President and GM, I have no idea what vdubfan's talking about.

Edward Rogers has a good relationship with Shapiro, who is critical. The FO has been given the reins to do basically what they want, backed by big resources. He's approved the continued climbing payrolls, along with the big contracts they've recently given out.

Absolutely, there have been missteps/dumb moves. But what the Jays have going on right now is heavily supported by Edward, which is pretty critical for the org. If the team is sold to a non Eddie person, that could be problematic for FO continuity. That's all I really care about, letting this FO see this through and stick around for a long time.

yes as both those were great. But both did not have an nba team in canada to deal with. top Latin stars did not have issue with coming to toronto. nor did he have a full american bias to deal with. Also both those leagues were not leagues ran by players like the nba is, creating super teams etc etc

Pollack was great, but was not hard at the time for the team he was managing.

Gillick was insanely great as well, i would have had as 2nd best, only cause i believe the hand he was dealt was just easier to manage then masai.not cause he less talented.

just my opinion, on a question that is subject to each persons interpretation.

Gillick started with the Jays in 76/77 when the Team started. He created from a crappy expansion team a near Dynasty over a 10 year period (83-93) in the sense that the Jays were for 10 straight years always in the hunt for a playoff spot or made the playoffs to include two WS long before there was ever a wild card and you had to win the division. There were also only two divisions. There was no AL central. There were two playoff spots available in each league and that was it.

Masai with all due respect to him, has not shown the sustainability/longevity of Gillick yet. Masai also inherited a decent base in the sense that he could trade a DeMar DeRozan for Kawhi etc. Gillick built from absolute ground up and sustained it until he left in 94.

I understand why the union has stringly advised B Bichette not to take a longterm extension, and see the Albies contract, which will ake him to free agency at 30, wth $45.1M in career earnings. Ronald Acuna reaches free agency at 30 w/ $125M,with power to get another huge 5 years

Please dont think i underestimate what gillick did. But what you stating on masai has to take into consideration the difference between the nba and mlb.

The NBA is so restricted to the few upper echelon teams and masai was able to break the raptors into the upper echelon of teams . The kawhi trade was just the icing on the cake. Masai had to fight for it, from the speech at jurasic park to the rudy gay trade that started the rebirth as i call it, to the rebranding . it is not just about the championship

I'd put Gillick and Masai on equal sized pedestals. Delivered new franchises their 1st championship.

MLBPA can f*** right off if they are pressuring their members to not sign extensions with their current clubs. It's understandable they wouldn't want their members to get bent over backwards like Acuna and Albies but there's no way Bo would even consider signing a contract like those in the first place.
