connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 There'd have to be addition spects, but that's not egregious. Dingleberry! Omg. Go trade Jansen for Degrom you homer bastard
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 Omg. Go trade Jansen for Degrom you homer bastard lol... okay, meat.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted July 9, 2021 Posted July 9, 2021 Atkins would need to include some criminal evidence or explicit photos for these deals to go through. Haha I guess I missed the mark. How about Groshans instead of Smith in trade 2 and Pearson instead of Kloff in trade 3? Closer? I don't mind giving up some solid prospects, Berrios, Ramirez, Rogers and Kimbrel all help this year and next year at a minimum. They'd be huge adds. Plus adding Cruz blows up out offense and keeps him away from competitors for a wild card spot.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 If Kimbrel was a free agent at the end of this year he probably gets 3 and 45 or 3 and 48. He's been stupid dominant this year and rich clubs pay big money. He might even get a 4th at a reduced AAV. One year 16 mil is actually a pretty good deal. You get the best closer in baseball from 2021 who's put up an ERA of .57 without the long term risk. Spending that much on a reliever isnt necessary.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 So assuming he has a really good next few weeks, what kind of return does Ray get?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 So assuming he has a really good next few weeks, what kind of return does Ray get? Jays aren't selling, Baldilocks.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Jays aren't selling, Baldilocks. Just saying lol. He would prob return something sweet
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Cleveland always values MLB players in trades so if they were to trade Ramirez I’m sure Biggio would interest them. There would have to be way more included though.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Just saying lol. He would prob return something sweet And then re-sign him as a FA?
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 And then re-sign him as a FA? Don’t think his feeling would be hurt. I’m not sure I’d want to sign him for dumb money though. Not sure if he’ll get it

Saucedo and Smith have no value. Eyk for that package is robbery. We can throw in Groshans but they’ll want more since Berrios has control left and there just isn’t that many good SP available. Ramirez is worth way more than Pearson, especially this version that can’t stay healthy. Throwing Biggio in the package isn't enough to get it done. Maybe Cleveland would do it if we eat some contracts for them but that’s kinda wishful thinking. Trying to acquire JR while keeping the farm system untouched is going to take some wizardry.

I think any of these trades can be done if we take on some bad money. Things is I don't think Cleveland has a lot of bad money left.

I think they’d value Gurriel higher than Teo due to the cheap control.
bronson44 Verified Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 If Jose Ramirez is really on the table then he should be the main target. Groshans, SWR and a B prospect should get the conversation started.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Has there even been a hot stove rumour about Jose Ramirez? Or are BJMB vagrants just speculating here...

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Get Grichuk and Gurriel off this team please
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Has there even been a hot stove rumour about Jose Ramirez? Or are BJMB vagrants just speculating here... Just speculation. Cleveland isnt doing so well right now and Ramirez starts to get a salary bump after this season.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Has there even been a hot stove rumour about Jose Ramirez? Or are BJMB vagrants just speculating here... The Indians likely have a better shot at the WC than the Jays do given the division they play in, so I doubt they trade Ramirez. Their payroll is nothing anyway and he has two affordable option years left so they have no incentive to move him like they did with Lindor, especially if they can sneak into a WC spot with him.

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Gurriel?? He's been exposed as a free swinger and he's too dumb to adjust
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 He's been exposed as a free swinger and he's too dumb to adjust He's a great option given his friendly contract. Nothing wrong with Gurriel hitting seventh or eighth in the line up and I believe he is better than the numbers he's put up so far.

And Hernandez isn't any better. Hopefully they get better but I doubt it.

RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Would love to see us go after Eduardo Escobar. Expiring contract so shouldn't cost much. Having another good year. 780 OPS. Good defender at 3rd, switch hitter. Slot in after Teo. Moves Biggio into a platoon role with Gurriel/Grichuk. This move makes so much sense to me. Gives us a different look in the lineup, plugs the black hole on defense at 3rd, base, expiring contract so shouldn't cost too much, VeTeRaN PrEcSeNcE.

Fits the Jays MO too, trading for the castoffs and not giving up too much

I like it more than Bryant for sure. It would, I assume, cost way less. Get this guy and Taylor Rogers from the Twins and that is a good trade deadline.
