Why am I not surprised Chatwood and Romano were used with 4-5 run leads? Then when the game is close tomorrow it will be the carousel of AAA fodder in the high leverage spots.

Credit where credit it's due, flawless management by Montoyo tonight.

Not exactly hard to manage when your starter does as well as Matz did but my expectations are so low that I'm actually impressed for once.

Uses Romano tonight with a 5 run lead, but not yesterday after 12 pitches in a winnable game. What if we need him tomorrow?

Shatkins has to be seeing this, right?

Romano in a 5 run game?

Romano in a 5 run game?

Yes, I'm perfectly fine with a rested Romano coming into a 5 run game a day after their garbagetime relievers gave up a 7-spot in the 11th inning. Their bullpen has blown like 80 games in a row and they needed to get this win.

I think you guys are forgetting that whoever the Jays bring in has to face at least three batters. The Jays used four relievers not named Romano yesterday and the best of them gave up 2 runs. If Montoyo brings in some shitter that walks the bags loaded, the Yankees are one swing away from making it a game. At that point you bring in Romano anyway, so I'm fine with them skipping all the nail-biting, taking the easy win and getting the morale bump that they desperately need.

Why is Romano pitching? Jansen can't frame well.

Jansen is nearly in the top 30% when it comes to catcher framing according to Baseball-Savant.

It's okay to be emotional. It's not okay to be dumb.

The thing is that he didn't let Romano pitch the 10th yesterday where we needed K's just so that he would be available today. Then we don't even need him today and he uses him anyway. As s***** as our relievers are right now, Dolis or Castro could have finished this off. We could have won yesterday and today with proper bullpen management.

I'm going to let it go though. Happy we won today.

Vehemently disagree, there was lots of guys available for a 5 run lead. We won all is good. Yesterday doesn't mean s***.

Castro gave up 2 runs yesterday. If he did the same thing today, the same people complaining that he didn't pitch would be complaining that Montoyo went to him again after he had a s*** outing in the previous game.

He absolutely misused Romano yesterday just like he made s*** decisions in almost every game during that losing streak. But I don't care about yesterday when I'm looking at today's game.

There's literally nobody in that pen outside of Romano or Chatwood that I trust right now so I'm very glad he went with the stress-free option to secure a winnable game after the bullpen has s*** the bed all week.

No man, I understand Chatwood for the 4 outs, but using Romano in a 5 run game is stupid. We can't be scared of the pen or we're done. Even, Dolis makes better sense there. Hell, I'd throw out Tice or something up 5 runs with our leverage guys ready.

My beef is Romano shouldn't have even been available today because he should have pitched 2 yesterday. He seemed to have his good stuff and there's a good chance we win that one.

I'm salty that instead of that we wasted him for an inning today. If you can't trust any other reliever to get 3 outs with a 5 run lead then they shouldn't be here. That's managing out of fear and now we can't even use him tomorrow in a tight game.

Good win tonight, great showing by Matz.

Excited for Manoah tomorrow and glad he won’t have the pressure of trying to snap a 7 game losing streak.

Let’s win this series
