gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 Poor guy will have to retire by the time he becomes a free agent lol Hopefully he stays healthy and collects arb money at least..
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 I bet Grichuk will be more valuable this year than Springer I seriously doubt it.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 I bet Grichuk will be more valuable this year than Springer You are 100% right through 3 games but are 100% incorrect rest of the way lol.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 He's looked incredible, but I'm not going to get comfortable. Dude has been made of glass. I'm going to enjoy every second that he's healthy but I won't allow my heart to be broken by him. This. It's game 3.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 Zeuch early candidate for Cy Young award Box: https://www.mlb.com/gameday/blue-jays-vs-yankees/2021/04/04/634607#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=box,game=634607 He's earned himself another start you would think. His stuff is a nice fit for home games in Dunedin. Roark will need a good start to the season if he wants to maintain his rotation spot.
Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 Can Merryweather really be this good? It is interesting reviewing what Atkins said about him soon after the JD trade: "What I can tell you is that we're excited about the return," Atkins said. "It's a near-term prospect we feel can impact our major-league team in a significant way."
Ex Player Verified Member Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 2 out of 3 at Yankee stadium. Dont mind if I smirk!!! And smirk a LOT!!!

His stuff is incredible, and he can command it. The only question is, can he stay healthy?

EastCoaster Verified Member Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 Grichuk providing some key hits in both wins. Look he’s not amazing, but its very important to have a guy like him on the roster. Veteran able to step right in to any spot in the OF when an injury occurs. I’m glad we didn’t trade away one of our outfielders, feels like we have more flexibility now Randal is making Charlie's life difficult to no have him in his line up right now the guy is hitting .429 avg and have won 2 games for the jays at yankee stadium on his timely hitting it inpossible not to pencil him in your lineup if you want to win the games.

When Springer comes back Charles will have Grichuk at DH against lefties and Panik at DH against righties.

Grichuk clearly makes our defense better by being in the OF so Tellez will need to be extremely good with the bat to get more appearances than him. With the way things stand, Tellez has made this decision very easy with his Spring and 2 crappy games thus far. It's on him to work his way back to that small glimpse we saw last season. Guys losing at bats to friggin Panik at DH of all people lol.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 I would tike to see them keep Davis when Springer is back so they can have one of the outfielders dhing. Not committed to Telez as a full time hitter Yeah he looks like 2019 Rowdy. 2020 is looking like an aberration. Tellez was elite with the bat last year. Made huge improvements to his BB% and K%. Let's not put a ton of weight in his spring and 2 games.
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 When Springer comes back Charles will have Grichuk at DH against lefties and Panik at DH against righties. Less Panik IMHO....he's an utility player...nothing more , nothing less.

StealingSigns Verified Member Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 Good teams always have a good 4th outfielder. We're seeing it pay dividends to start the season.

Ya I thought we were going to trade one for a starting pitcher but really glad we still have this luxury. Still need to get a starting pitcher. We can use our prospect currency for that.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 I am a Grichuk hater (his contract specifically), but I've always said he is a really good 4th outfielder. I have no issues keeping him for that reason as long as it doesn't impact other payroll decisions, and even if it did, I don't see any team valuing him at 3/30, so he's going to be here regardless. He's fine in this role.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 When Springer comes back Charles will have Grichuk at DH against lefties and Panik at DH against righties. I have never been a Charlie hater until now. His job was player development and who cares if he bunts once and a while and loses like .08 percent win probability. What has happened now though is 22 year old Alexandra Kirk is losing at bats. Kirk is not on the roster to play 1/3 of time, he should be in 2/3 of the time and he essentially lost a game to Panik 1. Kirk should of been in catching Saturday. 2. Sunday Jansen back catching and Kirk should of been DHing instead of Panik. That would get Kirk his 2/3 playing time he needs. I am Charlie, I am the next Cito Gaston except I bunt a tonne. I love you Joe Panik, you remind me of a young (ie 33) year old Pat Tabler. Cito, my hero played Tabler instead of Olerud, but Cito didn't bunt enough, I will honor Cito's legacy by bunting hundreds of times and playing Joe Panik instead of Kirk.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 6 hours until game time Packed stadium in Arlington, should be a fun game/series
