Does anyone know how Lamb's defense at 3B is? His bat cant be any worse than the crap we can throw out there so don't mind that side.

I didn't know if what I saw was a one off but that's how his arm is all the time now?

He seems to try to make up for it by releasing it quickly so if he's running to his right or left at all he'll scoop it and just chuck it to the cutoff man as fast as he can. On the few times where he's directly charged it and there's been a play at the plate it looked like the arm of a women's softball player.

Seriously though. Kirk at catcher, put Dyson in CF and DH Dickerson then.

Maybe Matz likes throwing to Reese? Maybe no faith in Kirk's defence in a tight game? That's all I can think of.

I like having Lamb and Dickerson both in there, but Dickerson leading off (AND playing CF) is a big eye roll. My gut says Montoyo thinks his lineup is jenga and if he moves the big boppers around they'll fall off their momentum.

Dickerson leading off is bad enough but playing him in CF seems even worse. That guy's arm is completely shot.

This - definitely more concerned about him playing CF than about him leading off.

Dumbtoyo with another dumb thing. Superstition, sports gut, whatever it is he uses for decisions, its f***ing stupid.

He watch the Rays do matchups for years. The problem is, they were constructed to take advantage of it.

Idk after thinking about this some I don't think the lineup is that bad. With Springer unavailable Montoyo basically has 4 options for CF in Dyson, Grichuk, Dickerson and Teoscar:

-Dyson: Can't hit to save his life

-Grichuk: struggling big time and he ain't going to get it going against Cole

-Dickerson: His CF defense will be a joke but he is a serviceable hitter and bats left-handed, maybe with the short porch in RF he can plop a ball over the fence

-Teoscar: If you put him in CFer then you've got to put Dickerson in RF (assuming you don't want to jerk Gurriel around and given his crap defense I wouldn't) where the arm issues are just as prevalent

So if you don't want to move everyone up a spot maybe you just put Dickerson in the leadoff spot and hope the Jays get a lead. Then after his 3rd AB, which hopefully comes relatively soon in the game given that he's the leadoff hitter, then you can put Dyson in as the defensive replacement.

I like Dickerson leading off because he's the type of guy who can jump a pitch and ambush Cole with an early homer. Rattle him early. Wait for it, this is pitcher specific.

There is absolutely zero justification for Dickerson hitting leadoff. Even ignoring the fact that he's likely the 8th or 9th best hitter in the lineup at the best of times... he has the biggest hole in his swing at the top of the zone against velocity. Always has had that hole in his swing. Always will. Cole lives at the top of the zone with premium velocity. Dickerson is 4 Swinging Ks waiting to happen unless Cole makes massive mistakes, which is not something you would plan on or think "well maybe if Cole pitches like crap this guy hitting leadoff will pan out... "

Garbage managing from a garbage manager.

Why? You're better than this.

Given how hot LGJ is - I'd be tempted to put him up there if you don't want to 'change' the rest of the meat of the order.

I must admit, if Robbie Ray and Semien were on another team, I would definitely suggest they are risky guys to sign long term. I probably wouldn't be on board with the Jays signing either to the 4-5 year deals we expect they will get.

But - I've undoubtedly formed a connection to these guys as a fan. Semien might now be one of my favourite players in the game. He seems like a complete professional - hard working, great teammate, intense competitor and I honestly can't imagine either leaving the team after this year. Go sign these guys - they are both beauties.

I was thinking this exact same thing. Dickerson should never hit higher than 7th unless he gets hot. I would rather Kirk lead off by a mile. And I thought that before his two dinger game.

I agree with you about Ray but Semien has already proven he's this guy in 2019 and I'm sure he would have gotten there in 2020 if it were a full season. I'd have 0 issues bringing Semien back on a 4 year deal but it will probably take 5.

Ray has only had 1 season at this level and thus it would be super risky to give him anything more than 3 years. Unfortunately, it's going to take 4 and maybe even 5 years to get any deal done.

Let's just hope we don't get screwed on the AAV if these deals are more than 4 years.

Remember when Charlie pinch hit for Kirk with some other guy...

FUNNY CHARLIE ... HE HE HE ... THAT guy is JUST A joker.. HE HE HE

Kirk should be hitting clean up

Kirk has the best career major league OPS of any Toronto Blue Jay including Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He was just behind Vlad in terms of minor league OPS.
