Murphy was hoarded on the 40 man roster for what seemed like forever. Surprised they gave up on him that quickly, but I don't think he's a loss at all. No idea who Overton is, though.

He was DFA'd bro, he has to clear waivers for that to happen, I don't think he does, not with those options.

For some reason I thought Overton was already on the 40-man. Either way it's not too much of a loss. I'd rather them check out Overton to see what they got. Murphy had the highest FIP/xFIP on the 40-man, this is just the team fishing for an upgrade.

Oakland has been hot too

It appears likely that they will pass the Astros or at least make things interesting. We'll have to pass one of those two or the Yankees to make it in. I think we can safely write off Boston and Seattle as contenders.

Damn, love seeing Boston freefalling now......wish we had a majority of our games with them now, not when they had golden horsehoes up their asses in the first half of the season....timing can everything sometimes

Blue Jays Release Tommy Milone

By Steve Adams | August 12, 2021 at 3:07pm CDT

The Blue Jays have released left-hander Tommy Milone, per a club announcement. He’s spent the bulk of the 2021 season on the injured list due to inflammation in his left shoulder but had gone out on a minor league rehab assignment recently.

Milone, 34, allowed 10 runs on 20 hits and three walks with 17 strikeouts through 14 innings with the Jays earlier in the season. His initial IL placement came back on May 2, and the club moved him to the 60-day IL later that month. He’s tossed 13 2/3 innings in Triple-A since beginning his rehab assignment, holding opponents to four earned runs on nine hits and five walks with nine punchouts.

It’s been a rough few seasons for Milone overall, although he got out to a strong start with the 2020 Orioles, notching a 3.99 ERA with a 24 percent strikeout rate against just a 3.1 percent walk rate in six starts (29 1/3 innings) before being traded to the Braves. Things didn’t go well in Atlanta, as Milone yielded 16 runs in three starts before heading to the injured list with inflammation in his left elbow.

Despite a rough patch in recent years, Milone is an experienced lefty with a lifetime 4.59 ERA in 927 2/3 big league innings. He’s never been a prolific strikeout pitcher (17.7 percent) and was averaging just 84-85 mph on his heater in his limited time with the Jays early in the season, but even at his best Milone only sat in the 87-88 mph range. Milone also has excellent control (5.6 percent career walk rate) and has had enough big league success that a team in need of pitching depth down the stretch could take a look on a minor league deal — assuming he’s healthy, of course. The trade deadline has passed, and elimination of revocable August trade waivers gives contending clubs very few avenues to stockpiling veteran depth at this point in the season.

Tommy Milone being released barely deserved a headline, much less four paragraphs...

I wanna squeeze Montoyos beady little head. Play Kirk more you stupid f***ing dumb ass.

I feel Kirk is the type of catcher you want to give regular rest to. And it's not like McGuire has been bad lately. Since Kirk returned to the team McGuire has put up a better OPS than Kirk. Kirk has a .753(.360 babip) and McGuire has a .773(.303 babip). McGuire is also superior to Kirk with defense. If you look at the past 2 months Reese has been a top 10 catcher.

Yeah the split in play isn't that bad, 11 starts to 9 in favour of Reese, our catching has been sharp.

Very happy we were able to hang on to Reese and have him increase his value through solid play

Would never get him through waivers now so something has to give eventually . Probably this off season.

Agreed, there is no need for Jansen to rejoin the big squad until the September call ups. In the offseason, we'll offload one that nets the best return I believe.

Almost with every game, I become more and more convinced that it is just plain stupid to have anyone on the planet with a tv - better equipped to call strikes and balls than the guy who actually calls strikes and balls. The Ump last night was atrocious.

Between Buck's idiotic rants, Montoyo's weird lineup decisions and silly bullpen management and the Umps' incompetence, it is really difficult right now to enjoy watching Jay games. I will confess that I did not watch all of the game. Just could not take it.

Buck repeats himself ad nauseum and one of the things he says almost every other game is simply false. When he says that Charlie will play whoever is hot - it is like he is watching another f***ing team. Charlie actually does not do this. He played Biggio game after game after game while he sucked wind until the f***er actually said he could play no more and went on the DL. I mean is that someone who only plays the guy who is playing best while Espinal back then was hitting .300 and making incredible plays in the field? Now, he is stuck with this stupid rotation of the fielders that he will not alter for any reason...even if someone is gettting hot. I may not know a lot about baseball compared to the experts but damn my eyes tell me Gurriel is hot and when you sit him you are taking a valuable bat out of the lineup. It took an injury to get him back into the damn lineup last night. Right now, you have to be an idiot not to include Gurriel into the lineup.

Hope Dickerson is not gone for long because I do think his bat will come around and will be a valuable hitter from the left side. I definitely think the Jays have the talent to make the playoffs. But I do think they will have to overcome a manager who is simply one of the worst in the league.

And I will no longer watch Jays games with the sound. Just cannot take it. From this point out, I will listen to music while the game is on.

We can only lose 20 more games for a 90 win season, and who knows if that is good enough for the WC. 28-20

Totally doable. This should be an exciting/stressful 6 weeks!

Hopefully they win the next 18 in a row, so then all they have to do is go 10-20 to hit the 90 mark. Feels much less stressful.

Jays are 12-4 in their last 16 games.

If they can do that over the next 16 games they will only need .500 to get to 90 wins.

For the rest of the season:

10 games vs Baltimore

6 games vs Minny

6 games vs Detroit

2 games vs Washington

Might be greedy but it sure would be nice to win 20 of those 24 games.

Posted
Also,

7 games vs Yankees

6 games vs Tampa

3 games vs Oakland

4 games vs White Sox

3 games vs Seattle

There are several teams competing to make the playoff looking to go on a run and if the Jays are to make the playoffs they will have do damage in the series listed above. These are the series where the Jays can make up ground and if ahead gain distance from those competing for the same goal. Jays are a better team than they were before the trade deadline and have to play like it moving forward. The Jays simply have to play better against those teams above .500 and those competing for the prize.

Also,

7 games vs Yankees

6 games vs Tampa

3 games vs Oakland

4 games vs White Sox

3 games vs Seattle

Predictions W-L:

Yankees 5-2

Tampa 2-4

Oakland 2-1

White Sox 2-2

Seattle 2-1

Overall: 13-10

Am I crazy or does he look a lot like Donaldson?

I mean, "both" is also a plausible answer.
