Please be minor Dude just can't stay healthy and seems to find ways to get hurt. Sucks man because I've been on his bandwagon since the first day I saw him pitch.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Of course he does. Dude is made of glass and twigs
The Iceman Verified Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Keep substituting for each other on the IR glass Merryweather and glass Pearson. One power wipe out arm always available.
Bojangles Verified Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Striping scratched from start. Zeuch starting today. King Julian to the IL. Yikes
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 I'm guessing Roark goes back to the rotation if they don't use him today.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Merryweather has an oblique strain too - so much for the hip irritation. f*** sakes.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Someone gonna make the GDT soon??
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 I think the service time manipulation deadline is in a couple of days. The Jays may want to consider bringing up Manoah at that time.

I don’t think they are manipulating his service time. They genuinely want him to pitch considering he’s barely done so the past 2 years. Big Spring or not they aren’t trying to throw him to the Wolves. Hes also never pitched above Short Season A-Ball.

So what? Like 3 months in AAA is going to make a huge difference for him? This is a progressive org that called up a 5-and-a-half-foot 300-pound catcher from High-A because he can hit and we beat the Yankees today because of decisions like that. Manoah is 23 years old and he wents nuts in the spring. He's not some 19 year old. Give him an innings limit if you want and let it rip. I promise you that he's better than the Roark's and Milone's of the world. The AL East is going to be tight and Monoah over Roark could be the difference.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Oblique strain isn’t great news. Could be several weeks.

Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Castro is the older prospect they picked up from Detroit, right? How has he looked this Spring? He has great velo but iffy command, according to fangraphs.

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 How did Zulueta look in ST? Is he close or is he going to require a fair bit of seasoning still? The way this season has started off, it's looking like the Jays will have to go deep into their system to keep the bullpen going.

I just don’t think they promote him until later in the season. And I don’t think that decision has anything to do with service time.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Vlad's sprint speed is now 60th percentile. Also how did Trea Turner get faster? That's nuts. He's already been in the 99-100th percentile his entire career and now he's faster? Ridiculous stuff.

Zulueta flashed some good stuff in ST, but it doesn’t sound like the org is rushing him into an MLB bullpen role. They think he has SP potential but he has essentially no experience in full season ball, or pro ball for that matter due to TJS in 2019.

He has great velo but iffy command, according to fangraphs. He looked good in the 2 innings he pitched yesterday. Like, not just good results, the pitches looked good, the delivery, everything was kinda spot on. He's been a starter his whole career, so I wonder if they don't keep him stretched out once he's sent back down....
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Bummed about Merryweather. I would like to blame Buntoyo for making him throw 30+ in the outing before his last. It would just make me feel better. I need to irrationally lash out. Can i do that? Probably not fairly lol.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 2.5 weeks away?? Yeah around there, mid-May. Would be my guess.
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Yeah around there, mid-May. Would be my guess. yeah....and sounds like Hatch could be maybe another 6 weeks after Pearson (no idea how or why Im saying 6 weeks..LOL). "If" the Jays have no further injuries to the pitching staff, they may have a decent starting staff after all. Im wondering when will MLB baseballs will get away away from power pitchers and go back to more "guile" type of pitchers to save on arm injuries. Sit around 93 mph for majority of pitches but still be able to crank it up a few more notches as required when in a nasty situation. Just like in real estate, the importance is "location location location", save on starters and bullpens and on fans nerves and hair loss!
