I agree with eliminating the constant stepping out in the batters box (which I believe is actually supposed to be eliminated already, but not enforced). Anyone who has ever pitched at any level will tell you the importance of the warmup pitches though. You have to have them, particularly after sitting on the bench between innings. Trying to stay loose the entire time in the dugout would fatigue the arm too much, particularly when some innings are extended.

Yeah the pitch clock, batters box time outs and pitchers stepping off kinda all go hand in hand with speeding up games. Might take gradual changes over time but eventually all those things will need limits. If a batter can call time over and over, and a pitcher can step off over and over, or throw to a base over and over with someone on…those things all need to be addressed along with the pitch clock.

Have you ever stepped on a mound and pitched in a real game?

I think we can safety answer that ourselves. Suggesting the SPer only gets 1 warm up at the start of an inning is really dumb.

I mean if you're only going to give him 1 you might as well give him zero.

Make it a race back into/out of the dugout and if the entire defensive team is in position before the scheduled batter is in the box the pitcher can begin throwing pitches. That'll speed the game up! The old boys friggin love hustle too that'll fire them right up!

You’re missing the point. It’s not the commercial break times that slow the game down and that’s when the majority of warmup pitches are thrown between half innings. It’s everything else

I’m really curious to see the terms of the deal. Should give us a pretty good indicator how much the rest of the SPs are gonna get. E-Rod with his age and intriguing underlying metrics was one of the better value deals out there.

No wonder he didn't accept the QO. This has a strong resemblance to their Jordan Zimmermann contract. I'm not a fan of big contracts for non-elite pitchers.

He's only 33 in the final year of his deal. 15.4 mil a year for 5 years. I kinda like the deal. Good bit of business by Detroit IMO. Stro Show at 5 and 110 or Eduardo at 5 and 77? I think I'd go with Rodriguez at 5 and 77.

I think that they would have been better off investing in position players and pitching on a shorter term deal. The last 30-40 million on that deal will likely be an anchor on their payroll when they are truly ready to contend.

An anchor, he's 28 man? If anything I can see him opt out in 2 years.

We'll see. History strongly supports my perspective, but anything can happen.

Regression will happen, obviously, but an anchor, highly doubt it. That's why I replied.

Any truth to this, as now Correa has added a Tiger to his Twitter page....Tigers moving fast if this is true

I mean if you read in the comments, they say he photoshopped the tiger? Plus it’s not on there when you view his profile? So the guy may be just pulling a Hazel for clicks?

lol... this guy's mind.

I know it's not confirmed nor deleted bud, but that pic's likely from a 3rd party.

I don’t get it? So either the guy photoshopped it, or he’s tweeting out a photoshopped photo? That sum it up? Some guy actually sums it up like that in the comments
