Funny she calls this out, but not Bauer on what he posts.

What do you mean specifically, Cat.

It looks like he does that with just the arms. I haven’t watched him swing much I guess

Yeah. It's lots of arms plus a very rapid and aggressive hip and torso rotation with very little leg motion.

Watching LAD and Padres, as per usual, whenever I watch Dustin May pitch thinking how the f*** can anyone hit that guy. 97mph 2 seamers?!!

Then Tatis mashes his 98 MPH 2-2 pitch over the CRF wall.

Some serious talent there pitching and hitting. Kind of jaw dropping.

The entire series to date has been exceptional baseball on display, haven't missed a game, I'm loving this Bauer FTJ showmanship! Jaw dropping is right.

Just realized she was tagged specifically in it. That changes it slightly.

That changes it emphatically, that's straight out wrong. I laughed at first, but didn't notice her tag, that's childish troll s***.

Yeah, he's all lower half with a sweet swing, huge power.

This is the difference between 240 yd and 300 yd drives.

Luba should call that s*** out. Mouth breathers who are butt hurt Bauer didn't sign with their team plus angry a woman is rising to the top. It's a joke.

I was thinking the same thing. I play golf too and it's all about the hip turn and solid contact.

Jeff Bridich out for the Rockies. It was a matter of time, what a terrible tenure he had.

Rockies fan rejoice.

Ohtani's swing is a physical marvel. All that whip power comes from hip and torso torque as you mentioned.

His arms look like they're doing a lot of work because of his wingspan, but they're mostly along for the ride. This keeps his swing surprisingly short and allows him to put the bat on the ball despite swinging out of his shoes. Ohtani is a freak.

There was 25 K's in the Marlins v Brewers game yesterday. That's pretty close to half the outs in the game recorded by strikeout.

That doesn't sound like exciting baseball. Bring back the BIP!

How do you accomplish that though? Here are a few ideas I have seen:

1. Move the mound back or lower the mound. IMO this is a bad idea because it would just make velocity training even more important. It might decreased K's though, at the cost of a lot of crafty pitchers being able to even survive. You'd get a lot more mindless velocity guys in the game.

2. Deaden the ball so that hitters no longer prioritize home run swinging. Make it dead to the point that players with average power just cannot and do not hit 20 homers anymore. These guys would then perhaps change their approaches and try to be .300 hitters again.

3. Robotic umpires calling a strict strike zone. This would eliminate any pitcher's calls. This would perhaps increase BIP only if it is correct right now that the non-rule book strikezone benefits pitchers more than hitters (not clear if this is true).

4. Make a walk worth two bases. This is Josh Donaldson's favourite idea, lol. It would certainly force pitchers to throw strikes.

5. Alter the ball to reduce spin rates.

6. Allow the hitter to attempt to run to first on any pitch that gets by the catcher, no matter the count.

Sign me up for a #3 & #6.

They should also return the bottom of the strikeout zone to the top of the knees. I believe it was mid 90s they lowered it to the bottom of the knees.

6 is a super interesting idea. Would that stop pitchers burying breaking balls so much. Interesting.

I don't think I know the answer, but I'm not opposed to #1. I'm not sure that velo becomes much more important in those scenarios or not. I'd have to think about it.

3 is a no brainer, just do it MLB!

I would also consider 'banning' the shift. I don't think they are 'wrong' by any means, but they take away hits on well hit balls, so if you are trying to encourage balls in play, I think that's a decent way. Just make sure teams keep players on the appropriate side of second. No 4 outfielders etc.

I was just trying to find stats on league wide BABIP to see whether it's dropped significantly due to shifts. Can anyone help me?

So you think Trevor Rogers outdueling Corbin Burnes was a snooze fest?

"There was 30 strikeouts in the Nationals vs Mets game! Some pitchers named deGrom and Scherzer.. What a boring game!"

Limit of 11 pitchers on the roster. This will force relievers to go a bit longer, and throw 95 for 35 pitches instead of 105 for 11 pitches.

And since they have nothing better to do with the other roster spots they will bring back the Rance Mulliniks, Frankie Cat types who can platoon with a Tabby type and together hit .303 with 11 homers with the Frank Cat guy doing most of the work

I think that MLB should just adopt the Banana Ball rules the Savannah Bananas played with this summer. (As shown on Jomboy

)

1. Every Inning Counts.

The team that scores the most runs in an inning gets a point.

The first team to five points wins the game.

The inning is over once the home team takes a lead or three outs are recorded on the home team.

2. Two Hour Time Limit.

No inning will start after the two-hour point. If a team has not reached 5 points, the game will go to a Showdown Tiebreaker

3. No Stepping Out.

Batters cannot step out of the batter’s box once an at bat starts. If batter steps out at any point, it’s a strike on the batter.

4. No Bunting.

Bunting Sucks. Enough Said.

5. Batters Can Steal First.

If a pass ball or wild pitch happens during any pitch of an at-bat, the batter can take off to first.

6. No Walks Allowed.

If a pitcher throws the fourth ball it becomes a Sprint. The hitter will take off sprinting to first while the catcher has to throw the ball around to every defensive player on the field before it becomes live. The hitter can advance to as many bases as he can before the ball becomes live. The ball does not have to touch the catcher or pitcher.

7. One on One Showdown Tiebreaker.

Each team picks one pitcher and one hitter to face off. The defensive team only has the pitcher and catcher on the field. All other fielders are off the field. If a hitter puts the ball in play, he has to score and make it home to get a point. If the ball is put in play, The pitcher is allowed to chase the ball and throw the ball to the catcher for a play at the plate. If a pitcher strikes him out or gets him out before scoring, he doesn’t get a point. If the batter walks, he can take second base and the hitting team will bring another hitter to the plate.

First team to reach 5 points wins. If the score is tied – the first team to keep the other team from scoring wins.

8. No Mound Visits Allowed.

Let’s keep the game moving. No mound visits from the coach, catcher or any other players. Hype your pitcher up from afar if needed.

9. If a Fan Catches a Foul Ball, It’s an Out.

Why not let the fans get in on some of the action?

I don't think they should limit the number of pitchers specifically, but 26-man rosters are absurd. Stupid concession to the PA in exchange for fixing the stupid expanded September rosters.
