Laika Community Moderator Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 New details emerge in Yankees' Domingo Germán's domestic violence incident By Lindsey Adler New details have emerged in MLB's investigation into New York Yankees pitcher Domingo Germán's domestic abuse incident, sources tell The Athletic. In September 2019, Germán and his girlfriend attended a charity gala held by then-teammate CC Sabathia. Many of Germán’s 2019 teammates were also there with their families. Germán slapped his girlfriend at the event, sources said, but the MLB investigation focused primarily on what happened at his home later that night. According to multiple league sources, including a person with knowledge of the MLB investigation, Germán was intoxicated and became physically violent toward his girlfriend until she hid in a locked room. The victim is said to have contacted the wife of another Yankees player, and the couple drove to Germán’s home late at night. The victim remained with the teammate’s wife, while the player attempted to calm down Germán, who is said to have been angry and belligerent. The incident was reported to MLB by a different member of the Yankees staff, whom Germán’s girlfriend had told about it. The victim did not call law enforcement, so there is no police report from the night of the assault. Germán is set to return this spring following an 81-game suspension under the league's domestic violence policy. As pitchers and catchers reported for spring training earlier this week, Yankees reliever Zach Britton was asked about Germán. “Sometimes you don’t get to control who your teammates are,” Britton said. “That’s the situation.”
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Disgusting. If the Yankees are going to employ German, they might as well go sign Osuna. Go full evil empire. I mean why not?

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Memory isn't the best but wasn't Osuna'a case dropped? That always means there was no wrong doing. Maybe we should welcome Osuna back with open arms.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 That always means there was no wrong doing. Maybe we should welcome Osuna back with open arms. Do we even know what he was alleged to have done?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Do we even know what he was alleged to have done? There's been a lot of secrecy. Very little has been released about Osuna’s alleged crime, but it’s been reported that it was a concierge at a residence who called police and that the woman showed signs of having suffered “significant injuries.” MLB deemed the alleged assault grave enough to have warranted the third-longest suspension in the league’s three-year-old domestic violence policy. The woman, the mother of his child, returned to Mexico and refused to return to Canada to testify, which is the only reason charges were dropped.

Was probably told, by very persuasive men, if she sets foot in Canada again it'll be the last thing she does.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 That always means there was no wrong doing. Maybe we should welcome Osuna back with open arms. Not saying that but I wasn't sure how guilty he really was since I don't remember much coming out. If we went by your logic, you'd probably want to fire Masai right when the police officer filed his ******** lawsuit. Luckily we got video of that incident to see how ******** the original claims were. If there was no video or Masai was a broke black dude then imagine how this would have went... Not saying that is the exact case here with Osuna but I always like to be impartial until actual details are presented to me. The fact Osuna took his suspension without counter suing the MLB tells you there was something wrong done by him. Now whether he was Ray Rice or it was a much less stupid incident is very much up in the air.

Yes it was the concierge that called the police and the police reported significant injuries. The defense also was touting video surveillance that was available of the alleged incident that occurred in the lobby. There's a lot of conjecture and not a whole lot of facts. It's easy to jump to conclusions. I have no clue what happened. They should have released the video.

If the mother is on the video and does not consent to the release, this is a problem for a public agency.

Two of the people said Aylward’s executive assistant complained that Mather had repeatedly rubbed her back and made suggestive comments that made her feel uncomfortable. In interviews with The Times, a former colleague of the woman recalled her taking steps to avoid interactions with Mather, and another recalled her privately expressing frustration at Mather’s interactions." This guy deserves every bit of the cancel train coming his way

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 Three things here. 1. That was a crazy blunt speech by Maher considering it wasn’t exactly private. Not much expectations of privacy there. Not wise on his part but as a non-Mariners fan pretty funny. 2. If true, the actions described in the lawsuits are fireable, obviously. I don’t know if they’re true or not. He’s probably getting fired for #1 anyway. 3. King putting his pronouns in his bio is a big yikes. Surely that’s being done in an ironic way? If not that’s deserving of a ban. At least a 24 hour one.
