Just came here to say that the Blue Jays getting the first overall pick at the #5 spot might be the best thing I have seen in a long time.

 

I've watched Martin play live about 6 times. His hands are some of the best I have seen. He likely doesn't play shortstop for the Jays but 3rd or OF and he will rake.

 

He could easily be a 15 - 20 hr guy that may hit .330 a few times and win a batting title.

 

I honestly thought Detroit was going to take him at 1, getting him at 5 is absurd. This kid could easily be a bigger star than Bo or Vlad.

 

Kudos. The Jays are going to be so exciting this year and for a while.

Maybe not a college senior but they will have to save some money. I wouldn’t expect any high school players taken. Also sucks for the dudes that went back for a senior season that never happened lol.

They have a day to talk to Martin / Boras to get a good idea what it will take to sign Martin

Martin will probably cost more than the Pick 5 slot of 6.18M

Then the Jays can plan a strategy for their Round 2 and later picks

The Padres are cursed... they are one of only two teams that has not drafted an All-Star in the past 20 years. (The Mariners are the other.)

 

So if you draft a team and don't trade anyone your get an all star each year. That stat is crazy.

He can go back and get drafted as a senior. Boras would convince him to do that out of spite then spend the next 12 months bad mouthing the Blue Jays for being a cheap large market team.
