  1. So the Orioles will take all that money they saved and offer it to Baumler? I guess that would salvage the draft for them but you have to wonder if this was really the plan or if they misread the board and this was a fallback.
  2. He doesn't fall to 5 in the first place if Boras is willing to settle for 5th pick money.
  3. Kopp sounds very much like a Shapiro pick, a "trust your development people" pick.
  4. Not that I like the strategy or anything but they could still go overslot with pick 39 (the second pick today). If they were confident in the deal they struck with one of the pitchers (Kelley? Wilcox? Ginn?), they could afford to wait on that guy and grab Westburg who probably wasn't going to be there today. It could be a solid haul overall even if passing on a talent like Martin is a hell of a risk to take.
  5. Nope. Is Westburg even an overslot guy?
  6. Kelley to the O's here?
  7. Well so much for that. Os are dumb.
  8. The latest picks from the Cards and the Nats make it seem increasingly likely that the Orioles have some sort of deal with Bitsko.
  9. I forget which expert compared PCA to Mickey Moniak but I'd hate that if I was a Mets fan.
  10. There where whispers that a team would punt their first rounder today but the only org name I heard tied to that rumour was the Angels and they picked the guy everyone had mocked to them.
  11. Current Fangraphs Top 5: 1 Nate Pearson 23.6 AAA RHP 2020 60 2 Simeon Woods Richardson 19.5 A+ RHP 2023 50 3 Jordan Groshans 20.3 A 3B 2023 50 4 Orelvis Martinez 18.3 R SS 2023 50 5 Alek Manoah 22.2 A- RHP 2022 45+
  12. Yeah something like that. Fangraphs has him as a 50FV prospect which would put him anywhere between 2 and 5 on their Jays board.
  13. That's quite a look from Hendrick.
  14. It's crazy. They could have cut a deal with Veen or Gonzales if they wanted to get clever. There was no reason to reach that far.
  15. Draft has been pretty much on script from 6 onwards. Hancock was connected to the Mariners a lot. Pirates were seen as the floor for Gonzales. Hassell was connected to the Padres. Veen is a surprise but only because he lasted so long not because it was surprising that the Rockies would take him if he was there.
  16. Anyone know about legal options for watching the draft if you're a cord cutter?
