Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 Kyle Tucker's minor league stats are impressive, but not nearly as good Travis Snider's minor league stats were from age 18 to 22. I wonder if Travis is available. Someone look into it.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 Do the Astros really need Stroman though? I mean they are pretty set at SP, no? Honestly, I'd say they're not set. Obviously, they have probably the best 1-2 punch in baseball in Cole and Verlander, but if they want to give themselves the best chance to potentially beat the Yankees and win a World Series this year, it's a pretty precipitous drop-off to Wade Miley as their #3. After that, as a subsequent result of injuries and underperformance, they currently have Jose Urquidy and Framber Valdez to round out their rotation. Stroman would be the perfect fit for the Astros and they have some really interesting pieces to part with in trade.

AintNoThang Verified Member Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 Keith Olbermann was on PTI today and stated that if the Mets trade Syndergaard, they better get back a MLB regular in return, and he mentioned Tatis Jr. as the comparable talent, and a "bunch" of prospects. What a maroon!
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 HAS THIS REALLY BEEN A SLOW TRADE DEADLINE? YES. That wasn’t hard. We hear complaints most every summer about a lack of action, but this time they’re legit. But just what kind of a lull are we talking about? How slow has it been? https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/07/has-this-really-been-a-slow-trade-deadline.html

I think at one point, he was simply the odd man out as their 6th best starter. That's obviously no longer the case, yet he's now just a bullpen arm. The guys was about as good as Stroman from 2014 to 2016

The guys was about as good as Stroman from 2014 to 2016 They transitioned him to the rotation this year, but he kept tiring by the middle innings, was running an ERA over 6, and hit the DL with a sore elbow. He’s been lights out in the pen last year and this year since moving back. I don’t think he’ll get another chance to start.

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 Stroman really wants to screw the Jays it seems... Him and FO pretty clearly don't get along.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 This is pure comedy gold now lmao Damn. I thought for sure an extension was a possibility. You mean that whole stance was a ruse and waste of time? Wonders will never cease.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 No GM in the world believes or ever believed that the Jays want to extend Stroman.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 This is pure comedy gold now lmao Haha that’s awesome. Amateur hour from the Jays - “give us a better deal or we’ll just extend him!”. Stroman - “er, no you f***ing won’t!”
Thaddeus Malice Verified Member Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 Stroman is under no obligation to pretend he's being offered an extension.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 Stroman is under no obligation to pretend he's being offered an extension. He doesn't have to pretend, but he also doesn't have to act like a teenager on social media seeking attention. I love the guy, but he definitely is a little overboard sometimes.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 Giles + Hudson = Kieboom I see right through you, Jon. It's been widely reported that the Nats are seeking bullpen help and that the Jays are shopping Giles and Hudson. Jon Morosi's "source" is just the high probability that the two teams would have had some sort of preliminary discussion at this point as potential matches on a possible trade.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 Breaking news: seller team may have contacted buyer team with the trade deadline looming 5 days from now. More at 7.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 Derek Holland to the Cubs. s***, his Wikipedia page has already been updated.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2019 Posted July 26, 2019 Stroman is under no obligation to pretend he's being offered an extension. He doesn't. But it just shows what he is. An attention whore. If he gave a s*** about the team or the fans, like he says he does, then he would keep quiet and let the organization try to get as good a deal as possible for him. Is he obligated to do so? No. But some people just act with class cause it's the right thing to do. The organization has never publicly said anything negative about him. They've never negotiated or done anything through the media with regards to Stroman. Too bad Stro and his massive ego can't say the same.
