I realize not everyone is superstitious...but aren't you guys even a little bit stitious?

Not even remotely stitious.

Can you even be an atheist (most of board) and superstitious at the same time? Idk.

So Vladdy doesn't speak a lick of English. Didn't know that.

He does, he just doesn't feel comfortable enough speaking it to the media.

Yup, like lots of Latino's, EE comes to mind and his English was pretty good.

Rich man's Brett wallace

Don't discuss Walrus on this, the most holy day of the future Vladianity religion.

Vladdy doesn't have the child bearing hips that Wallace did.

Zero first game jitters

Looks fine at 3B

Might be a top 10 hitter in the game from day 1

Vlad just looks like a guy who will never strike out. I had to look up senior's stats after the game. Vlad Sr. struck out 10.8% for his career and in his best full season he struck out 6.2% of the time. That's insane for a guy who was known as a free swinger.

They are no Willians Astudillo

No?

The chances he'll have to be sent down are non-zero. If this continues he has another 2 or 3 weeks. NOTE I said "IF THIS CONTINUES". No player would be kept up after going a month striking out once a game with a .150 average and a 75% ground ball rate.

Note before flaming me.... Based on his minor league numbers and scouting reports this won't continue unless there is a mental issue or undisclosed injury.

My Red Sox fan friend bet me that Chavis would have a better rookie season than Vlad. Please Vlad, don't reward Red Sox fan's stupidity

Well He's not exactly looking like a can't miss future hall of famer better than his dad with an 80/80 bat. He should be moved to the 8 or 9 hole or he needs to bat second so he has Smoak and Grichuk as some sort of protection to perhaps get him to receive more pitches in the strike zone - assuming he can even hit those.

I am haunted by Travis Snider - the first round pick - can't miss all-star bat that was ranked in the top 8 in all of baseball - going to be a .300 hitting 40 homer bat - STAR PLAYER. And he was in terrific shape. He did produce a +4.4 WAR over 8 seasons. Super Star I tell ya.

Jays hadn't really been burned by a high profile prospect failure until Snider. Snider started hot but had injury problems and potentially mental issues... I remember him talking a bit about anger management and anxiety stuff. Snider also had a warning flag (high strikeout rate in the minors) that Vlad doesn't have.

Carlos Delgado struggled mightily for 2 years after a hot start. It took him a couple of years to win a job, and really four years to become a great hitter.

Shawn Green had the most similar start to Vladdy

At about this point Cito had seen enough and he got sent down! Came back the next year, and didn't really break out until he found a manager that didn't like platooning.

Biggest Dissapointment in Blue Jays history through 30 at bats

1. Vladimir Guerrero JR

2. Shawn Green

Any other candidates??

Since Vlad can't get the ball in the air when he isn't striking out we don't have many great Vladimir memories yet.. though the chopper down the first base line, and the one he got in the air that was caught with a nice play at 335 feet were kind of cool... but nothing like this
