Anyone paying attention to beat the streak, A guy got to 50 today only 7 more to go.

I've been having a horrible time all year (best is 10), and I've played basically every day. Really though, I just want to try to get the 1 year of MLB.TV Premium.

No Jays in the All Star game now:

Ugh, pretty much no actual baseball until Friday. The All-Star break is by far the worst part of the season.

Nobody here talking about the Marisnick/Lucroy collision at home??

Pretty rough hit, but looks like an accident to me.

Yadi Molina is ripping people on Twitter and saying it was a dirty play, even talked s*** to Carlos Correa for trying to support his teammate.

He posted a photo of Johnny Walker Blue before he began this rant. I'm pretty sure he was wasted while making most of those posts.

As a catcher, Molina would've supported Lucroy had he pulled out a handgun and shot Marisnick coming down the line.

Here's a really good angle. You can see Lucroy shift ever so slightly toward the outside part of the bag but it just looks like he's planting his foot to prepare to receive the throw not actually jump to the outside part of the bag. The second he does so Marisnick plants his foot and lunges to the inside right where Lucroy is. His lunge was so big he couldn't really pull up all the well even though he tried. He's huge and also very fast so it ended up being a nasty collision. Just a s*** play all around.

Interesting article on Trout from the BBC: Mike Trout: The brilliant $426.5m MLB star most Americans don't know

Quotes a study showing less than a quarter of Americans and only half of American sports fans know who he is. Then neatly encapsulates MLB's issues with trying to promote him and the game:

"The situation is compounded for Trout because he plays on a California team, most of whose games don't start until late in the evening for East Coast viewers. And the Angels, while located in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, have always been the little brother to the Los Angeles Dodgers - the Manchester City to their Manchester United.

The franchise's identity issues are reflected in the revolving list of names the Angels have gone by in their 58-year history - the Los Angeles Angels, the California Angels, the Anaheim Angels (for the actual town in which they play) and finally the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (which resulted in the team being sued by city governments in both Los Angeles and Anaheim).

By whatever name, the team has only won a single championship, in 2002, and has only made the play-offs once in Trout's career, a 2014 first-round sweep at the hands of the Kansas City Royals. Despite Trout's contributions, the team has posted three consecutive losing seasons and is currently in fourth place in its five-team division.

Post-season games - and, particularly, the World Series - are where baseball players can begin to command the nation's attention. It's a stage Trout, whether because of bad luck or bad decisions by the Angels management, simply hasn't had the opportunity to enjoy.

Last July, in the midst of the 2018 All-Star game, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, the top executive for the sport, directly questioned Trout's dedication to building his "brand".

Mike has made decisions on what he wants to do, doesn't want to do, how he wants to spend his free time or not spend his free time," Manfred told an interviewer. "I think we could help him make his brand very big, but he has to make a decision to engage."

I never know how we all make it through the offseason.

You can barely see Lucroy shift his weight on slow motion replay. There's no way a guy stumbling out of a dead run would have noticed that in real time.

Stupid Americans got our anthem lyrics wrong.

Fox never even shows our anthem. It's the weirdest thing. After the introductions, Joe Buck always says they'll be back with the American anthem and it cuts to commercial until it's done.

I'm probably alone in this but I've thought for years that they should do away with anthems before sporting events altogether.

I definitely agree with this.

I like the anthems when they're done properly. When you get people who don't know the lyrics or try to get cute with them (or just flat out can't sing), those ones I can do without.

There are much better things that can be done with the stupid anthem(s) time. Get rid of it, started at end of WWI, and stuck around. Has nothing to do with the game.

Should've said stupid PM changes anthem lyrics in an attempt to show how inclusive and accepting he is (unless you’re a woman in power)

That’s a pretty popular opinion. Outside of national teams, anthems before team games is uniquely North American.

When it's something neat and different like Slash coming out and playing them on his guitar at the Dome, I'm down. When it's like "here's some random person who you've never heard of and never will hear of again" then they're just pointless. Still better than God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch though, that's just cringey.

Agree I have always hated it, such a waste of time.

Do you mean they skip the Canadian anthem? If that’s what you mean, I totally get it as to an American it’s like listening to someone scratch a chalkboard for 2m.

In terms of the American anthem, I definitely think it has a place before games. It represents a lot and especially when you’re in the stadium, it’d be sad if PC culture made it go away
