I wonder what kind of attendance they'll get. Are you expecting a sellout??

The stadium holds 66,000 and the tickets sold out within an hour. TBF a lot of American expats live in London but even so most there will be Brits who have never seen a baseball game live before.

Any thoughts on how successful the NBA/NFL initiatives in Europe (or Mexico) have been?

I mean in general, promoting the game across the world seems worthwhile; however, if you do it year after year, does it lose it's luster/effect?

Both have increased the interest in Britain, basketball was already popular in continental Europe. Doing it year after year helps, and the games are always sold out.

NFL is still seen as an American novelty though - a bit like baseball it’ll never be super popular here because we have our own similar sports that are more established (rugby and cricket).

The biggest difference from the increased coverage and interest is higher participation leading to potential professionals, especially for basketball. When I was a kid I got the chance to play American Football only once, basketball hardly ever, and baseball never.

Thats awesome!

I was talking to a friend of mine who works in airplane industry, and he seems to think world leagues in all pro sports is inevitable once scramjet technology becomes mainstream. You can fly from NYC to Sydney Australia in less than 4 hours in one of those planes

Transport (and generating power) are the things that once their potential is fully unlocked will change the world forever. Just like the internet, commercial flights, motor vehicles, and electricity did in their day.

sending over the prime jewel series of the summer is a strong move by MLB, lots of season ticket holders and scalpers are cursing the loss of this event in the US this weekend

beats sending over the bottom of the barrel Bills and Jags to pretend to play a game

is the London Stadium right field fence 50 feet less than the MLB average to reflect the Yankee/Fenway travesties?

The game is being streamed by the BBC. It’s impressive to see how they’ve converted the football pitch to a baseball diamond, the foul territory is massive though, haha.

Last time I was at the London Stadium it was for the olympics!

Baseball is declining hard in the US so expanding globally is the best way to go. The NBA is going to explode globally soon. MLB needs to lay some groundwork in other parts as well.

Wow, 6-6 in the first. It may not be a great display of pitching but offense tends to be more fun to spectators and both teams are putting on a show.

Most sports are Declining not just Baseball.

Most have gone from what was once a Gate driven model to a Tv contract or other streams of revenue as well model to survive

More people prefer to sit in there climate controlled caves and watch it on the big screen with a beer in hand and pause rewind

And slow mo reply !!!

They just said that’s the first time both teams have scored 6 in the first since 1989. That just seems unbelievable.

I guess I shouldn't have started Tanaka... :(

At least you didn't start Tanaka AND Porcello in DFS, with Tanaka in the captain's slot. I've never had -36 from my pitching before.

Geez, you've had some bad luck lately.

The one thing I hate about any highlights involving the Yankees is having to listen to John Sterling their radio announcer with his awful home run player nicknames.

Pitching and I don't seem to agree with each other.

Actually, I've been basically treading water lately. The blowups have been spectacular though.

Are they playing in a T-Ball stadium?

I hear they forgot to bring baseballs, so are playing with lacrosse balls.

Oh, that's been the case all season, you say?
