In 2015, they got beaten by insane luck and hit sequencing. They were a much better team than the Royals. The Jays have won series against the Yankees and Rays this year, does that make the Jays a better team? Holy f*** man, learn what a small sample is.

Lol yeah that royals team was lucky as f***. Plus still have nightmares about those strikes calls in the ninth game 6. That Jays team was better then KC.

Wrong! KC had a lock-down shutdown Bullpen from 6th inning on. We had fnnn Dickey starting for us.... Sanchez gave up big hits in the KC series when it counted, Cecil was hurt. We lost a fnnn blow out when Dickey started, we were leading the game Goins dropped the ball, but our pen also gave up some big hits.. The KC pen didn't give up the big hits... Our better offense was negated by KC having a better pen and not having to throw out fnn Dickey in a play off game. We also had Goins at 2b when we should have had Travis... We were without Cecil, Travis and had a Dickey... Osuna was only shut down guy in pen.

They are pretty bogged down as is. Yeah, sucks he couldn't do more damage but Sale and Price are going to be albatross contracts for awhile.

I think the demise of Chris Sale is vastly overstated. There's a good chance he returns to health and dominates for the rest of his contract. I don't think anyone questioned the contract when it was signed. If you didn't like the Sale extension then there's no way you could justify going after Cole in the off season because any contract he signs is likely to run through to his age 35 season.

Maybe the Sox will try and steal Shapiro from us. He only has one year left on his deal.

Fill in the blank.

The team with the best pen during the season has won __________ World Series?

Houston has hit 6 home runs against the A's, and it's only the 2nd inning

They need to juice the ball so that there are 15 to 20 home runs a game. That would be fun

The A's could potentially miss out on home field in the WC game or miss out on the WC game period because they went 0-6 against a team about to lose 100 games (us). I mean that's not the entire reason, but damn, going 0-6 against the Jays when they were trotting out Brito, Hansen, etc, is a gut punch. Maybe they'll remember what Drury did to them this year and trade for him.

I want to see Vladdy with 150 homers in a season.

Juiced ball does not help our obese little ground ball hitter....

He's probably better relatively with a regular ball, as he doesn't seem to take advantage of it like Alvarez, and the Yankee's random international league pickups do.

The team with the best pen during the season -not important (playoffs vs the teams they competing against) has won ______a hell of a lot____ World Series?

Regular season stats don’t mean s*** once playoffs start. Toronto was not the better complete team in 2015 and the results showed it. KC had better all around pitching, most distinctly their pen.

so the best team has won every world series ever? Did KC's bullpen even have great numbers against Toronto? I would say that bullpens were a non factor except for a speaking point among announcers and casuals.

Dumbest statement I have seen from you here my friend. And trust me, I have a lot of material. By metrics, casuals, anyone who followed baseball KCs bullpen was a HUGE factor.

If you are trying to dismiss the importance of their pen, I hope for your employers sake you have a job that has nothing to do with baseball. Go look at the their pen numbers against Houston, Toronto and against the Mets.

Every team tried to emulate the Royals afterwords. Starters only had to go 5-6 innings and lockdown. Herrera, Holland, Davis, brainfart on the other good dude ?? and then Morales.

Have you thought about a career in woman’s tennis ;)-

They had Herrera and Davis pitch extremely well. Hochevar had 9 scoreless outings. During the season he had 9 scoreless outings in his last 18 appearances. That's not building a good pen. That's getting lucky that Hochevar held hitters to a .162 average with just 4 k's. The pen pitched a 3.03 ERA. Morales had a 19 ERA, Madson 5.4, Duffy 6, Medlen barely pitched. They were a two pitcher bullpen and those two pitched amazingly well. Everyone else other than Hochevar pitched to their terrible expectations. KC, you could say won based on Defense considering how many pitchers out-pitched their FIP.

This is why baseball isn't played on paper, teams like the Royals can win. But to emulate the 9th best team that season seems like a foolish way!

As for my job. I work in multi-sport events because I'm very good at it and I do my research. Try it sometime. PS. I've worked in Women's tennis before. In the sports world we call it Tennis.

Didn't see it posted, but Nico Hoerner 1st 2018 draftee to the big leagues.

Nico Hoerner, SS, Cubs. Dealing with a rash of injuries at shortstop and a playoff outlook that's anything but guaranteed, the Cubs called up and immediately insert him into the starting lineup. The 2018 first rounder answered decisively, going 3-for-5 with a triple and four RBI, leading the Cubs to a 10-2 win over San Diego as "Nico, Nico!" chants grew louder at Petco Park.

Hoerner missed two months this year with a broken wrist and was slated to make up some of those at-bats in the Arizona Fall League. Instead, he looks like Chicago's answer at shortstop for the foreseeable future, as Javier Baez, Addison Russell and Dixon Machado contend with injuries.

While the decision to elevate Hoerner seemed somewhat surprising -- he has just 337 career minor league ABs, none of which are above Double-A -- the results Monday night were not. The Stanford product can put the ball in play, as evident by his .284/.344/.399 line with Double-A Tennessee this year.

He now finds himself in the middle of a competitive NL playoff race. Chicago is four games back of St. Louis in the NL Central, but is two games clear of the Brewers for the second Wild Card spot. The D-backs (2.5 GB), Phillies (3 GB) and Mets (4 GB) are still within striking distance.

I'd like to see more teams speed up their college prospects who have a similar makeup as Hoerner (contact guy with a smaller than normal gap between his floor and ceiling). Was pretty interesting to see him getting his name chanted on the road.

Did you totally forget Holland also?

I am in some weird twilight zone dimension where Sabrenazi is telling me, “old school” , baseball isn't played on paper.

Was just messing with you reference your job. As for woman's tennis, it is clearly defined from men’s throughout the sport.

However, it is much more exciting and up and coming in Canada now, hence I said woman’s tennis.

Holland was 2014. He was hurt in the 2015 playoffs.

Go to Ditka's Steakhouse if you are in Chicago for one more night. I figured it would be a lot like most namesake restaurants and be terrible value. But it was great atmosphere and good steak. that was 2014 though.
