There is one possible difference... Tellez is a fat f***. Sure they're both slow, but Tellez' physique says a lot about his ethic, etc. There are few good baseball players his size.

Vladdy Jr, and?

Rowdy? 7% BB rate and 22 HR's.

A 110 wRC+ first baseman only. The most replaceable player in baseball today.

only 16 of 42 first baseman who had more than 300 plate appearances had a wRC+ of 110 or better. Rowdy makes the league min....I'd take a 110 wRC+ from him in his first full year any day of the week. If he could do that in year one his upside might be a wRC+ of 120 or better.

His 2017-18 seasons in AAA beg to differ.

Tellez isn't a fat f***, he's a big guy. Rowdy's 6'4 250. Fielder was 5'11 275.

Yeah, I'm sure having a mother dying didn't effect him at all.

Sure, but we can assume that it affected him negatively. But to what extent, we will never know.

and yet you can't get beyond the numbers. Common sense would say that something like that would effect a guy, but it's hard to determine to what degree. Still, you ignore his major league numbers as a fluke. Granted we're talking about 135 plate appearances, but they are the most recent plate appearances and the ones at the highest level. Looking 2 years back and writing a guy off given the circumstances seems ridiculous.

This team is literally littered with guys you could go off on. How about Brito, or Drury..lol. I have no idea what Rowdy is as a major league player, but he's a first year player making peanuts. When he stands next to Smoak, Smoak looks small. I'm going to give Rowdy a little latitude to see what he becomes. His power is every bit as legit as some of the best power guys in the game. There aren't a lot of guys who have the ability to hit a ball with an exit velocity north of 115.

That article is such a snowflake piece. It is not a 9-5 office job. You have to compete and keep your job. It is not an intern position for high-school kids.

Cry me a river. We won more than we have in 20 plus years that year. We can be a daycare and lose 90 games or be results oriented, winners and f*** the prom queen.

"Here’s hoping all the best for Pompey in his recovery and that no one else in the Blue Jays clubhouse ever has to experience what he did. Regardless of what happens on the field, nobody deserves to be treated like that."

Kind of an odd way to end it when you have no f***ing idea what he experienced or how he was treated. I can't stand this type of thing...you paint the Jays clubhouse as this toxic environment without any idea of the extent of the bullying. Bullying can be a serious issue, but it can also be blown out of proportion. There's a lot of stories about Pompey's dad getting far to involved throughout his career - maybe he struggled dealing with things on his own.

I hope we are all in on Gio Gonzalez. I watched his last start on the radio and he looked great. The promise of a big league job should be pretty enticing.

His deal with the Yankees was something like $3M + 300K / start. Might be a little steep for what he is now, but at least you only pay for him if he's healthy. I'm not sure he brings anything worthwhile at the deadline though, and if not is it really worth giving him starts over one of our young players who probably perform somewhat similarly?

If that's the contract then I don't see him blocking our young pitchers. We're already looking at a pretty frail rotation and more injuries will surely come. If he's crap then we just release him and if he's good then we deal him at the deadline.

I don’t like that piece because it is vague as f***.

However, I’ve never seen any evidence that bullying makes baseball teams better.

I mean it sounds very rah rah and whatever.. but I doubt it makes much difference. Unless, the reason we fell off because we weren’t bullying enough. Didn’t no one think to bully Bautista when he stopped hitting? Also, for the love of god, someone should have bullied tulo into not being hurt all the time.

Yeah, I'm not really against it, I'm just not sure we really gain much from it. At least the downside of a contract like that is pretty limited.

Seriously...what a ******** fluffball piece of crap article. "I hope someone never has to experience what I imagine might have happened to someone once upon a time between maybe 2 and 5 years ago. And I hope the person that might or might not have done it is a better person and has leaned from it even though what they might have said or might have done could have just been taken out of context" Holy hell...how does crap like that make it past an editor?

If there's an agenda to pursue.

Incredibly lazy journalism.

go out and sign Gio to a one year and Keuchel to a 3 year deal. He could probably be had for 3 years 39 mil at this point.

Isnt there a draft pick attached to Keuchel? If so, I can't see Shatkins going near him

yeah...wasn't thinking. We would lose our 2nd pick and 500K of our international bonus pool. There's going to be a lineup to sign Keuchel June 1, but I doubt we would be at the top of his list.

Yeah no way Shatkins signs Keuchel if they lose a pick over it.

If he waits until after rhe June draft to sign then he no longer causes loss of a draft pick

It's kind of ironic that Keuchel wants term and big dollars (with a draft pick attached to him), while Gio signs a minor league deal that isn't even picked up.

Last 3 years

Keuchel - 8 WAR

Gio - 8.6 WAR
