flafson Verified Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Yeah, the only thing I heard on the tele last night was Giles will be in Oakland tomorrow, nothing else. They don't have to do anything until prior to the game, it's going to be an interesting day. Wouldn't mind seeing Clippard/Axford and Loup moved for International slot money at the least, seems Grandy will be on his way to one of Phillie or Yanks. I keep hearing those names thrown out but I honestly have no idea why anyone would want them. Every time you think one of them is having a good day they collapse the next. Maybe Axford is the most consistent of them but even he been crapping the bed a lot.

I have a gut feeling that AA is going to make an offer we can't refuse for Stro and a couple other pieces.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Fangraph says Paulino is hurt I could be wrong but I think he still has to be assigned to "somewhere" even if he's on the minor league DL.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Fangraph says Paulino is hurt He was rehabbing in short season ball.
bronson44 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I read Perez is going to AA and Paulino to AAA. Can't find where I read it now though. Found it. Sportsnet article: https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-take-path-least-resistance-osuna-trade/ "Perez will start at double-A New Hampshire while Paulino was sent to triple-A Buffalo."

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 FK, when last year I was noodling the possible return for Osuna and JD in 2017 versus what has materialized I cringe. The quest for mediocrity in 2018 is gonna sting for awhile. Lets hope Giles can get his s*** together.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Not to be a dick, but baseball is not played on a spreadsheet. Common sense and common consensus around baseball is that the two players aren’t in the same class even if Giles is capable of the same statistical output. Even if they put up the exact same stats— osuna is worth more. This trade demonstrates that. What is this ********?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Here is a completely different spin on things: Horseshit. If Toronto cops were "still talking about it" we'd have heard something before now. This seems like the makings of a libel case, frankly.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Yeah seriously, unless Passan has some evidence or even credible hearsay to make those claims, that's pretty low on his part.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Pham to TB. Tell me it was another guess when you hear about it.

Instead they got, well, lol nothing.

Instead they got, well, lol nothing. lol wat. Who thought we'd get 2-3 top prospects for Osuna? A very good but non dominant closer with 3 years of control landed us a controversial closer arguably better than Osuna with 2 years of control, a good minor league SP and a lottery ticket in Paulino.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Pham to TB. Tell me it was another guess when you hear about it. You called it first, that's two correct calls before anyone else. Ignore Jonn, he's a known arsehole.

Pay attention. 2-3 top prospects for Osuna and JD. Which is very reasonable pre-2018.

Wouldn't Paulino be the good minor league SP and Perez the lottery ticket?
xposbrad Verified Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Wouldn't Paulino be the good minor league SP and Perez the lottery ticket? Paulino 2-3 years ago, but after injuries/non development, I don't think he really qualifies anymore. He wasn't even top 20 on their prospect chart anymore.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Wouldn't Paulino be the good minor league SP and Perez the lottery ticket? I'm excited to see what Paulino can do in the rotation and I hope he gets an extended audition this season. I get that he's gone through a PED suspension, but he was the 44th ranked prospect in baseball before 2017 and it seems like he still has the solid stuff and control that helped him to achieve that rank. He could be the real prize in this trade if he shows that the suspension was just a blip on the radar.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Trigger warning: Sheryl Ring triggers me. She's so, so stupid.
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Wouldn't Paulino be the good minor league SP and Perez the lottery ticket? I said good minor league starter as in good prospect. Paulino could be legit if he figures his control out (Big if but hey)
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I said good minor league starter as in good prospect. Paulino could be legit if he figures his control out (Big if but hey) I think you have them backwards. Perez is the one with control issues.

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Ask me if I give a s*** who's team she supports. Why don't we ban everyone who has committed an alleged crime from employment for the rest of their lives.. Ahh, better yet, might as well do summary executions, so we don't have to support the offenders since they are not able to pay their debt to society or work..
