Grichuk is a center fielder, plus with a better bat than Pillar.

I don't think you can say Grichuk is a better bat... Pillar (healthy) now, would get more the Grichuk IMO.

Loup has a 3.61 fip and 10.6 k/9. I barely remember he's on the team some times but those numbers aren't too bad. Maybe he could fetch a lotto ticket after all.

I don't know i think their value would be very similar right now but i think Grichuk is more likely to be any use to us.

Stroman to ATL for a haul. Anger all the casuals at once, rather than break their heart again in December

Pillar was a starting CF on two playoff teams. Grichuk was in AAA after being in the show and thought of as a platoon OF... It is not a LOL...

As pitchers from other teams go off board, hearing Jays pitching among Cubs 11th-hour focus before 3pm (CT) deadline. Toronto had multiple arms available.

Fishing?

My prediction for the day. Nothing more.

The earlier in the day that Archer goes, the earlier Shatkins realizes the haul to be had.

Questions.

1) let's assume that the Jays trade or keep Donaldson - but in any event, he plays 30 more games and replicates his 2018 stats to date, and his team doesn't make the playoffs. What do you think his offseason contract will look like? Probably something like 1 year, $10-13M AAV, right?

2) Any chance Pillar and Estrada will get dealt during the waiver period?

3) What would Smoak fetch right now? He's on a great, affordable salary, but his contributions won't help this team much over the next 14 to 26 months.

It kinda feels like there are so many Pillar’s, Estrada’s and Smoak’s available at this time of year they are only likely to go as part of a larger package.

Have been saying since May, Jays offer JD the QO, he accepts and plays next year to rebuild his value..

We get a do over, if he doesn't accept, we get a comp pick... He would probably be smart to accept at I think $16 million or so..

I am still holding out hope they trade JD lol...not gonna happen now most likely, his value is s*** now.

That and you can't trade someone on the DL

I hope this is the calm before the storm with less than two hours left.

I have zero desire and will be furious as a fan if I have to watch our s***** relievers and veteran position players that are not part of the future the rest of the season.

I hope they get rid of: Loup, Axford, (**Edit-forgot to add Clippard) Clippard, Granderson, Solarte, Biagini, Morales, Martin.. (Travis and Tepera I don't care either way.. Don't think Travis is in our long term future..) Stroman, ok with if we get a good return..

Sell, sell sell!!

That's less than a Qualifying Offer, and the Jays will certainly QO Donaldson if he doesn't get traded. Actually, if he accepted a QO next year, that may be the best case scenario at this point.

A) If you think they're s***** why would you expect a contending team to want them?

B) You do realize that today isn't actually the last day to move any of those players, right?

I was kind of thinking the same, to be honest. Only thing, it'll be tough for JD to accept as he'll be 34 come next offseason, but I highly doubt he'll get anything out there with term. Man, he and Bautista lost out massive by waiting a bit too long...

If the Jays re-sign JD, where does Vlad Jr. go? 1B/3B/DH platoon with JD and Smoak? Not sure how I feel about not keeping Vlad Jr. on the field at this point in his career..

The Blue Jays continue to try to check on interest in their veteran relievers, including John Axford, Tyler Clippard.

I think there s*****, apparently there is some market for them, so move them!

Yes, but much more difficult after the deadline and you are held hostage by one team to negotiate a return many times.. Much better to have an open competition prior to the deadline so you can milk a little more.. If they don't have huge salaries, which our relievers don't, very unlikely they make it through waivers.

Maybin to Seattle. Grandy to the Yankees is probably a formality now. History with the team/GM plus a great clubhouse guy and still productive.

I am grabbing popcorn and ready to consume the s***-piling hot takes on the bags of balls we get for our replacement level role players.
