Why? Why not BPA?

Pitching is the greatest need. If the choice is a 2B or a SP of slightly less prospect value, Jays should go with the SP.

Anybody know what Shatkins’ trading tendencies were while in CLE? Beat the market or hold out late?

BPA absolutely for the draft, at the MLB and near MLB level, BPA is not efficient for roster construction.

it most certainly is. We're still talking about acquiring prospects here, not the final pieces for a playoff run. BPA all day

So you would take the 2B in AA over the slighly lower valued SP in AA, with Travis, Bichette, and Biggio all in the org?

You haven't had enough pitchers blow up on you in dynasty leagues lol

Jonah Kerri seems to think if JD goes on one of his usual MVP type tears, he could net us Mike Soroka.

If that somehow happened, I'd lose it with joy.

I think AA will trade for JD as well (assuming he’s healthy) and would love if that trade happened but that seems like a huge price for a rental even if AA is still in 2015 mode. I could see something like Toussiant plus, or something along those lines. The Braves have a deep enough system where the Jays could get a good deal from them even if it’s not one of their top prospects.

I have Travis, bro

He's my frustration, but I'm hopeful at the moment

edit - also have gurriel at 2B at Buffalo.... have no idea where this new 2B as the return for Happ is going to play

Try having him in the LOD. My emergency replacement for him is the guy that sounds like a vegetarian food dish.

Well, Travis sucks, Gurriel looks like a Util piece, and and MLB-ready 2B can presumably also be used at 3B or the OF. These issues tend to take care of themselves.

To some extent yes, or you have a D. Santana situation

It can't solely be BPA, there has to also be consideration of the strengths and weaknesses of the team. All I'm saying

The Brewers should have resolved that situation when they had 6 proven MLB players for 4 spots. Toronto isn't there, even with another good 2B prospect brought in.

You can still trade that prospect if needed, but unless they're C or 1B only guys baseball is heading towards players playing multiple positions anyway (potentially even 5 infielder or 4 outfielder alignments depending on matchups). Worrying about position when you're the seller shouldn't be a consideration.

Taking the BPA increases your chances of several of your prospects flourishing into something highly valuable. At that point, they could be used as currency in a trade for something of need, assuming we have an influx of middle infielders for example. Playing time will be figured out if the talent is there.

BPA is the better ROI.

Frazier isn't realistically going anywhere for a rental, but they’d put him on the table for a guy like deGrom.

I like the Braves pitching prospects slightly more than the Yankees. If you dangle Happ and a healthy Donaldson in front of Anthopoulos he would probably pull the trigger.

One of Wright, Anderson, Soroka, Gohara would at least be on the table plus a couple lower prospects

BPA would likely be pitching prospects as both clubs have pitching depth in the farms.

Maybe we could trade Happ + prospect for Jesus Aguilar.

Guy is controllable for another five years, and the Brewers don't know what to do with him, but could use more pitching.

No.

Would Dodgers do Alex Verdugo for Happ+?

What's the interest in him? He looks like Harold Ramirez.

No power, no speed, no on base skills

Yeah I'd rather get prospects who match up with the 2020 timeline. If they are big league ready now then so be it, but should be young enough to still be good during Vlad's years (2020-25).

Low K numbers and has hit at every level because he has a good bat, even without sexy power. Might have been more interesting when it looked like he'd stay in CF but he has a big arm for RF.
