When Police arrive on scene to a DV, they separate the parties involved. They are supposed to weigh both stories, look at any physical evidence, bruises blood etc, witness accounts etc, then they decide if they have PC (Probable cause to make an arrest).

If you have someone who does not speak the local language correctly and there is not a Officer on scene who in in this case (if he did not speak fluent) it could be argued that Roberto made spontaneous statements without understanding his rights, the question, the instructions of the Officer.. He was not able to articulate that the bruises etc are due to self defense and the crazy chica attack him etc.. In the US you have Miranda Rights etc.

What I was saying, is that when there is a language barrier, your attorney might have more wiggle room to do some attorney s***. If he can get the arrest PC actions invalidated, he could get the charges thrown out. No charges would obviously make a difference in the team's and MLBs actions towards Osuna.

personally I don't care what he does. Just pitch well. I am not the SJ or any other police. I just want wins

Sorry, but that's lame. You don't have to be a cop or SJW to have empathy and know that a dude beating up a woman is not cool.

I don't know anything about Osuna's girlfriend, but if she doesn't speak English very well then that could come into play, too. Not for Charter rights or anything, but for reliability/accuracy of the statement.

A lot of these people who claim to have empathy are trying and convicting Osuna before they even know what happened. Let's wait and see what comes of this.

OPs claim was that he doesn't care what Osuna does as long as he gets wins. That's not right. I'm not convicting him of anything as of yet. If he is found guilty though, I certainly won't look at him the same way I once did.

Definitely not cool no one should run the risk of being assaulted and when it does occur treat it seriously and protect all parties involved.

With that being said when Osuna is done this process, when we actually know what happened, I damn well want him back out on the field in the ninth inning. He's one of the best relief pitchers in baseball, I don't care what kind of person he is on or off the field as long as he performs.

I don't really see that happening at all in this thread.

I suppose that is where myself and some others differ. I don't want to cheer for a person like that.

I don't look up to athletes or celebrities so I don't really understand the cheering aspect that people are after, I can appreciate their achievements but I don't really care about their day to day existence and the actions they take off the stage/field/etc. I want Toronto to win a World Series and to continually contend and that means talent. You're selling way low on Osuna if you trade him now and he's one of the best bullpen arms in baseball.

I don't look up to athletes at this point in my life either, but others do. Most of these people/kids can be highly impressionable too.

I don't need to like a player, but i like to know that I can respect them at the very least.

I never advocated trading Osuna either. My orginal comment was that "not caring what a player does outside of baseball as long as they yield results" is silly and not a tune I sing to.

She did mention on her podcast that in her fantasy leagues (which she has only started playing within the past two yeard) she automatically drops/avoids all players involved with DV as a way to fight the patriarchal system.

Some things are more important than winning, but you wouldn't realize that.

This especially sucks because if he did something really bad, we need to pick a new guy to be ugliest on the team. Diaz? Oh wait, Smoak and Morales.

My vote goes to Diaz. How can a professional athlete who looks to be in reasonable shape have such a large, round head?

My second vote would go to Clippard's legs. Not sure what he's got going on there...

You don't have to like him if he is closing out wins. Trust me, in a dugout they have guys on their own team they don't like but love because they get the job done.

That's different than saying you don't care if he beats up women or not though.

Smoak isn't that ugly, Morales is pretty bad though, specially with the far receding hairline and weird beard stuff.

No ******** from me. If Osuna did hit a woman, if proven, I never want to see him again. I expect him to be a criminal and have his work visa revoked. There is no place for this crap. Athletes are not my heros (Bobby Orr was when I was a kid), they are pawns for entertainment.

Coming to Canada is a privilege.

I saw a video a few months ago. I think it had a AA player hitting a girl a number of times in a stairwell. What happened to him?

STOP the f***in violence!!

Kinda makes me cringe when he's pitching. Lol.
