Vlad Jr. is making it really tough to keep him down in AA.

Bo is doing really well, yet it still kinda feels like he’s underperforming compared to what we’re used to seeing from him.

Jansen is basically major league ready. We’re one Russell Martin DL stint away from seeing him.

Only the 2nd time he's done it this year. What a stud!

Time to get Conor Fisk up to AAA, see if he has a realistic chance to be a major league reliever. He's looked awfully impressive so far, big velocity bump.

For some of us who are less familiar with Minor league success, what are indicators to look for at the AA level.

I mostly look at age, K & BB rates, and wRC+. Standard (actual) prospects in AA are usually around 21 years old, and for each year younger/older than that, their performance is exponentially more/less impressive. For a hitting prospect, I'd want to see him be a year or two younger than his peers, striking out less than 20% of the time and walking at least 7% of the time with a wRC+ above 100. You might look at a prospect in AA with a 110 wRC+ and say to yourself, well that's not very impressive, it's only 10% better than his peers, but if he is two years younger than the competition, it's extremely impressive. For Vlad to have a 192 wRC+ (ie 92% better than average for the level), while being 2.5 years young for the level, and having god-tier K & BB rates... it basically indicates that he is a potential Hall of Fame caliber hitter.

Average age in the Eastern Leae this year is 24.3. He's actually 5 years younger than league average, whereas a typical prospect that people talk about is about 3 years younger than average.

Vlad's bat is the cure for male erectile dysfunction in Canada

I know a bunch of non-prospects drag up the league average age, so I pretty much dismiss out of hand anyone older than 22. I just mean he's 2.5 years younger than your standard Top 100 prospect in AA. Any way you slice it, it's impressive AF.

Could Cavan Biggio actually be called up this season if he continues to hit? Him doing this well was unexpected. I know the sample size isn't anything huge, but what he's done is pretty impressive nonetheless. Maybe he could be a good platoon partner for Travis at 2B (Cavan bats lefty).

I just want to interject for a quick second to say that age-to-level matters significantly more for hitters than pitchers. For hitters, it means pretty much everything. For pitchers, much less so.
